Interesting accounting. You filled in some blanks on what I knew, so I appreciate that.

I do think Eovaldi is a solid return and if he blossoms next year and Johnson gets his legs fully back under him (and his arm in its consistent proper slot) then the Feesh will have gotten back on the right track.

BL: well, sort of. The Hanster's problems with Fat Fredi broke into the open when our former manager called him out publicly for dogging it on a play in the field and a lackadaisical effort at running to first, but as I understand it they had rubbed each other the wrong way before that but there was no public acknowledgment prior to the more celebrated episodes. Given the backbiting that went on here when he was traded, it's pretty clear there was some animosity in the clubhouse otherwise. I doubt if the Hanster was very happy in Macondo the last two years of his tenure here. It seems that he and Loria got on well at first - witness that garish diamond-studded accursed .342 amulet Loria got him when he won the batting title a few years back. I haven't heard anything to the effect that he had any issues with Beinfest or the Chihuahua, though it wouldn't surprise me to find out that he eventually did.

No matter. As I wrote here earlier, this deal seems to be working out well for both teams. Eovaldi will need a full season to mature as a major league pitcher and prove himself, but at least his first full third of a season is taking place with a team that has no more expectations. The lack of pressure should be helpful. And clearly the Hanster is enjoying himself again - though I also wouldn't be surprised if his blatant egotism and Tinseltown temptations didn't become a toxic mix somewhere down the road.

Seriously, should this sudden rennaissance in production surprise anyone? Marlins fans, correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Hanley's untimely demise as an All Star occur roughly after a couple of run ins with Fredi Gonzalez? And the continued when he didn't mesh with Gonzalez?

I'd like to say he didn't like his managers, but perhaps he didn't like Jeffrey Loria or Miami.

Whatever the case may be, his decline in production was inexplicable from my perspective and I saw this coming from a mile a way, which is why I wish the Sox were the ones to have landed him.

David ross caught the hanster looking down at the pitch signs in last nights multi hr game. It confused the announcers why ross stood up made some signs then dropped back into a crouch. They replayed a few seconds before ross stood up and you could see hanram looking at ross give the signs then see ross glance up and see hanley looking not just at the location but at the signs he was giving. Ross then stood up and changed the signs to an indicator type system.

No one ever doubted the Hanster's talent. What was in question was his attitude and his focus. So far, looks like a good trade for both clubs.
