I do think Eovaldi is a solid return and if he blossoms next year and Johnson gets his legs fully back under him (and his arm in its consistent proper slot) then the Feesh will have gotten back on the right track.

No matter. As I wrote here earlier, this deal seems to be working out well for both teams. Eovaldi will need a full season to mature as a major league pitcher and prove himself, but at least his first full third of a season is taking place with a team that has no more expectations. The lack of pressure should be helpful. And clearly the Hanster is enjoying himself again – though I also wouldn’t be surprised if his blatant egotism and Tinseltown temptations didn’t become a toxic mix somewhere down the road.

I’d like to say he didn’t like his managers, but perhaps he didn’t like Jeffrey Loria or Miami.

Whatever the case may be, his decline in production was inexplicable from my perspective and I saw this coming from a mile a way, which is why I wish the Sox were the ones to have landed him.
