		<description><![CDATA[I guess the question at this point isn’t whether or not he should be shut down – he obviously should. The Mets owe him a truckload of money next year and they haven’t anything to play for. It’s more about whether or not that 134 pitch no hitter was the tipping point for him torpedoing his season. In some ways, it was totally worth it for Mets fans. They got a lifelong memory instead of perhaps a one-game Wild Card playoff. But in other ways, a team like the Mets (two strong starters and a good enough offense) could have done some damage in the postseason. I’m guessing for most of the fanbase, leaving Santana out there in a performance that COULD have ruined the rest of the season was worth it, seeing as their chances for postseason glory were slim.
