Phil Hughes is inconsistent, Joba has been mostly a bust and the Nationals developed Clippard into a reliever after Cashman traded him away for a bag of balls. Not saying the troll is right but your list makes it sound like the Yankees have churned out a ton of pitching prospects and that is a pretty thin list.

Well see, now you are moving the goal posts. First you said he’s had a long list of questionable pitching acquisitions. I showed a bunch that weren’t questionable, in fact that turned out phenomenally.

Now you want to say he only used his checkbook to get them, and once again you’re wrong. See Clemens was acquired via trade with Toronto involving David Wells, yet you only bring up his second go round. Randy Johnson was 41 years old when the Yanks acquired him, he was the best pitcher on the staff, by far (3.79 ERA over 225IP, next closest was CMW at 4.02 with 116 or Mussina at 4.41 with 179IP).

Would you like to go for round three?

No way in hell Cashman deserves the money he gets paid.

Here’s the deal, I can probably name a bad trade/signing/draftee, maybe two for every good one Cashman has done. Show me someone who has a better than 1:1 ratio. I’ll sit here waiting because I know you won’t.

Absolutely! Society should draw a very hard line against drinking and driving by preventing anyone convicted from the ability to pursue his chosen profession! Let’s toss all drinkers and drivers into economic peonage!

In all seriousness, though, I do like the idea of a sliding scale for DUI fines based on wealth (as opposed to income). PJ has got it right — a few hundred dollar fine is not going to deter any millionaire from drinking and driving.

Not putting the lights on when needed, or refusing to dim them for oncoming traffic, are things the police watch for as clues that a driver is drunk–besides the obvious weaving, speeding, etc.

Remember when he addressed the Yankee crowd, sure he was blessed: they paid him $18 million for months of work. Same with Carl Pavano who was a colossal bust. What about Kai Igawa, the great import from Japan. Don’t get me started there, oh wait I’m not finished, how about the introvert Randy Johnson and the second go around of fatso David Wells. How did that work out. As I mentioned, Cashman is a joke. YOU CAN DO HIS JOB! No way in hell Cashman deserves the money he gets paid.

Hey, at least he wasn’t using PEDs, now that would be unforgivable. It is much worse to try to gain an advantage (however small it might be) while providing entertainment than to risk people’s lives while driving drunk. It must be. Otherwise the MLB would penalize players more than 50 games for DUI.

DUI = 0 game suspension

PED = 50 games

Well it is just sad what some of these guys do to themselves. I really think it would be a good idea to see if some team has a really good bat boy or equipment manager they would trade for Pineda. If this is how he responds to NOT being able to pitch, lets just imagine what will happen if he were to draw an important AL east game. …and while the topic of who knew he was injured when the trade was made…one does kind of have to wonder about the quality and thoroughness of the pre-trade physical exam that these players get.

I bet Randy would have something different to say if it were Jeter or Sabathia getting a DUI…of course Pineda’s original sin was getting injured and being of no use to the Yanks this year…Randy would probably have him strung up for jaywalking.
