I agree with most everyone in that this likely spells the end of Kyle Lohse in a Cardinals uniform.
With the monies people are due to receive…signing Lohse would have been very difficult.

Lohse is probably gonna get a deal north of $40 million, and good for him.

With the Westbrook extension, the Cards are gonna have about $90 million wrapped up in like 8 players and healthy raises due Motte, Freese, Craig, Jay and a few others – Lohse has basically pitched his way out of the budget.

There’s no telling if Carpenter will be back but the Cards do have young options, those we’ve seen in Joe Kelly and Trevor Rosenthal and those we haven’t (yet) like Shelby Miller.

Miller by the way been lights out since the break, 50K’s and 1 – that’s right, 1 walk over his last 42 innings…

Yeah, I gotta agree with your logic there. I was also looking over lifetime stats and it looks like they’re almost equal on every line, except Westbrook had less IP, so maybe it was smarter for the Cardinals to go with the cheaper less worn option.

Lohse may be more reliable in your opinion, and if he is, he’s certainly not THAT much more reliable to warrant the much bigger contract over Westbrook’s that he will be gunning for in the off-season. The guy will be 34 at the end of this season, and a Boras client … not worth the extra money in my humble opinion.

Personally I would have preferred Lohse over Westbrook out of the two, neither are bad, it’s just Lohse is the more reliable

Even more annoying, people that read wordpress blogs that don’t realize that if you write a wordpress blog and cite another wordpress blog (as is proper attribution and regularly done by those here at HBT), that wordpress autofuckingmatically creates the “reblogged” post. It is not the choice of the blogger, but an automatic creation of the software.

I’d like to start a petition to have people who do this banned from this blog, perhaps after one warning. They contribute NOTHING, it’s very annoying and people don’t go to their sites. I go here to get my baseball news, you’re advertising your shitty WordPress account that you just made yesterday with 4 poorly written stories on it on a professional baseball blog run by NBC with 5-6 really good writers. With Wainwright’s possible extension looming large and some kids on the verge this is surely the end of Lohse, a Boras client who’s surely going to command top $$ on the open market.

Lohse is a California native, would be a great fit in LA with either local club.
