People always count out the Sox, for what reason I’m not sure but were playing good ball in Chicago. Sale is great this season, hope he stays healthy. Go Chi Sox!!

When you have power hitters like the Yankees have there will be a lot of strike outs in the line up, not to take away anything from Sale, but the Yankees strike out a lot.

Ya gotta love baseball–don’t count on the White Sox to beat the Blue Jays or Royals, but then they sweep the Yankees. If only the Tigers could lose some games in the meantime!

Every year I look at the Rays roster and think, “how do these guys keep winning?” Yeah, their pitching is good, but they never have a top-to-bottom dominant rotation. And their offense seems to always consist of a couple of pretty good hitters surrounded by a bunch of bad hitters.

They would be fun to root for, if they were not competing with the Red Sox. Oh wait, this year they are fun to root for.

Not only could the White Sox win the division, they could be a very dangerous team in the playoffs. They seem to have a lot of confidence right now and they’re playing well in every aspect of the game. It’s not like they’ve been a streaky team. They’ve been consistently good all season.

Remember when Sports Illustrated picked the White Sox to lose 95 games? Well I do. While they have no doubt benefited from unusually good rookie production and guys like Dewayne Wise hitting like Albert Pujols in short bursts, a healthy White Sox team is on its way to becoming the favorites out of the American League.

I want to see the Yankees play a 1 Game play-off for the Wild Card and get bounced by an unexpected late go-ahead HR off the bat of someone like Robert Andino or Elliot Johnson.

As a side note: I realize Rays fans are probably well aware of this, but how many of you realize that the Rays do not have a single player on it’s roster slugging .500 or better – although Longoria is close;

and just one player with an OPS over .850 (Longoria);

Nor do they have a guy with 20 HR’s on the season yet;

And only two players with at least 50 RBI; but no one with 60 or more.

And just two guys hitting over .265 – and only one of them (a journeyman utility player) is hitting .300 or above.

Come to think of it . . . anyone on that team (except Longoria) is welcome to drop the Yanks.

And this is what being a Red Sox fan in August 2012 has come to.

Things are tightening up. The pressure is building.

By the final series of the season between the Yankees and Red Sox, my Red Sox will surely be miles out of it. A month ago the series had all the look of a portrait between two former rivals going in opposite directions. Now a lot could be riding on it for the Yankees. Last September and 99 percent of this season will be forgotten if the Red Sox can come through with several important victories.

Nope, nothing wrong with only being able to score by hitting HRs. Nothing wrong with that at all. Lots of good approaches to the plate tonight as you can tell with the exceptionally low strike out total. Kevin Long’s approach- just swing as hard as you can and try to pull everything. If the Yankees do make the playoffs, they’re going out first round. You just can’t expect to go out and hit multiple HRs every game. The only bright spot is that Phil Hughes has had two good starts in a row against two pretty good lineups.

and he amazing offense continues. by the end of the weekend there is an excellent that they are not in first anymore. this is currently not a team that deserves it.
