UPDATE: Ivan Nova to miss a start after feeling “a grab” in his shoulder
Aug 22, 2012, 5:02 PM EDT
AP UPDATE: Sorry for the confusion. I saw one reporter who had Nova going to the DL. Everyone else is reporting that he’ll merely miss a start.
5: 02 PM: Ivan Nova had a bad night last night, and now it’s being reported that he felt “a grab” in his shoulder during his six-run, six-inning performance against the White Sox. As such, the Yankees have placed him on the 15-day disabled list.
Nova, who has a 4.92 ERA and 139 strikeouts in 157 1/3 innings this season, is heading back to New York for tests. I guess this gives Joba Chamberlain a stay of major league roster execution pending the CC Sabathia activation.

I really just see this as a way to send Nova down without actually sending him down. He’s been pitching pretty poorly for most of the season. Hopefully now he’ll get straightened out.

I hate to hear this, but he hasn’t been pitching good at all. Now let Phelps into the rotation, he needs his shot.

It’s odd, he’s dropped his walk rate from last year, significantly increased his K rate, but is giving up hits, especially extra base hits, up the wazoo!

Control, but no control. He is inconsistent, and now he’s got a boo boo.
Maybe the rest will do him some good.

i really hope this isnt just an excuse for his poor play last night, im sure Phelps will get the spot start which im fine with cause hes done a great job, im not sure on Wolf i understand he has had a rough season but a change of scenery could change that, if they could get him for hardly n

I think they’d go with phelps before signing Wolf. Can’t imagine him competing in today’s AL East.

I’ve been feeling something when watching him pitch…something not good.

Dude, this is a family forum; there’s no place for that kinda talk here.

So he’s just going to take up a roster spot for no reason, I guess.
