Clemens, from the second half of the ’87 season through the first half of ’88, had probably the most dominant stretch I’ve ever seen a pitcher have, other than Pedro. It seemed like every time out he was throwing a complete game with 15 strikeouts. The heavy workload he carried eventually caught up to him and he faded down the stretch in ’88, and it would take a couple of years for him to get back to being great; he would never be quite as dominant again.

He may be the most disliked athlete in Boston. Not saying that he doesn’t deserve to be (he frequently comes across as a dick/he went to the Yankees/he probably cheated) but it is kind of a shame, because he did amazing things for the Red Sox.

Ah ESPN. Marches out Skip Bayless to shred all baseball players for PPD use Thursday and go out of their way to show one of the PPD posterboy’s minor league starts Saturday. ESPN- talking out of both sides of their mouth since 1998.
