Reynolds (380 PA): 52BB, 118 K
Davis (434 PA): 26BB, 132 K

Davis’ career K% is 31.2%, which nearly equal that of Reynolds (32.9%), but he walks less than 1/2 as often as Reynolds (6.3% to 13.5%). With Davis, you are getting a lower OBP and less overall production….so far. He’s only 26 and could improve a bit during his upcoming “prime” years.

@lewp Yeah that should be Davis, not Beltre.

Davis does have a bad K/BB ratio, but is not Reynolds bad. If he keeps the average and HR numbers, he will be exactly what the O ‘s have been looking for for years: a legitimate first baseman. It was a steal from the Rangers if you ask me, along with Pedro Strop.

I agree and could see this happening… Reynolds has played a great 1B for the most part.

The official story is a Labrum issue is keeping him from playing third. (Yet he can pitch?).

There is no chance the O’s pick up Reynolds’ option, they might decline it and attempt to sign him for less money as he has looked pretty decent at first of late.

I’m confused here.

“Beltre homered twice off starter Carlos Villanueva and once off Steve Delabar to up his season total to 23 homers. While he has an ugly 132/26 K/BB ratio in 402 at-bats, he has hit an adequate .256 and driven in 64 runs.”

Beltre’s average is .316 through Friday.

The Jays have stunk it up big time lately, I still say Toronto should allow Farrell out of his contract so he can go back to a new look Red Sox team. In exchange Toronto gets a Boston roster player, and meantime makes Omar Vizquel the new manager for 2013.
