Teams arent contenders in July–they are pretenderrs. Contenders are teams fighting it out in September. I think you have had one contender maybe two in your ten years of ownership.

Ownership that wants to win invests in its club at both the big league and minor league levels. Ownership that wants to win on a budget doesnt waste its money on Derek Lowe, Grady Sizemore or Travis Hafner. They invest in core players for the long term and they dont trade Cy Young Winners for nothing.

They also invest in scouting, player development and relationships with the fans.

Ownership that is committed to winning doesnt let the same men run the team year after year when they dont produce results.

Paul–while Manny isnt the issue, after all he had a no talent team “contending” into July–you better look in the mirror. Because the teams leadership of Dolan, Shapiro and Antonetti sure are the problem. But you wont fire yourself by selling the team. So clean house, start over.

Or do the right thing and sell the team.

Paul—the fans have turned on the team and the fans have turned on you and your family. We dont care about the Tribe because we know you wont invest in its future. For crying out loud, you make Vernon Stouffer, Gabe Paul, and Nick Meliti, look like good owners. At least Bill Veeck cared!
