I’m not a fan of the MLB following in NBA’s recent footsteps and making a SUPER TEAM via a bunch of teams all trading their best players to the same team.

BUT.. at least the Dodgers know how to welcome these players to town. Gonzalez at clean-up his first day on the team. And then giving Punto an at-bat just for the fans. Awesome. I can’t say this trade made the MLB playoffs more fun to watch, as it’s probably just between 2 teams in the NL… Nationals and Dodgers. But hey, it will at least make the Dodgers that much more fun to watch!

And on top of it all, it makes Boston even more of an afterthought this season…. and hopefully many seasons to come.

Dodgers took on two of the main protagonists from last year’s Red Sox epic collapse. Gonzales has been anything but clutch since then, but he hits a lot of singles. Beckett has been like a cancer, on the mound and in the clubhouse. The Dodgers are absolutely desperate to win now, and Crawford won’t even suit up until next year. Unless Beckett and Gonzales play a lot better, this money dump by the Red Sox will not benefit the Dodgers even in the short run. Can’t wait to see what happens.

This lineup is nasty. Kemp and AGon as the 3 and 4 hitters….than Ramirez and Ethier at 5 and 6. Who cares about the rest of the lineup…..it’s not important.

Seeing Juan Rivera’s name brought back fond memories of the Wells for Rivera and Napoli trade. The Jays did not need or want either, but were happy to take them in order to get the Wells contract off the books. Remarkably, Boston did a better job in this trade than the Jays did in theirs.

With the addition of players like hanram, agone and the cryin Hawaiian, who clearly want to prove their abilities for a franchise capable of winning, this lineup has got to be the NL favorite right now.
