Picture of the Day: Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto on the way to L.A.

Aug 25, 2012, 3:20 PM EDT

Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto are currently on a plane to Los Angeles to join their new teammates with the Dodgers. Punto took to his Twitter account to thank the Red Sox organization and fans, but he also posted the picture below showing the trio en route to L.A.

They look pretty thrilled to be getting out of Boston, though I suspect the smiles in the Red Sox front office are also quite wide right now.

considering the advancement in technology, why the hell is Punto still using a Motorola Razr circa 2003 to take twit pics?

    • D.J. Short - Aug 25, 2012 at 3:32 PM

      That’s one gritty phone.

    • yanks33 - Aug 25, 2012 at 3:49 PM

Because he is a loser who shouldnt even be in the major leagues

      • Old Gator - Aug 26, 2012 at 4:35 PM

You would think they’d give the loser the bulkhead seat. Gonzalez can’t even recline his in that baby bizjet. That ain’t first class unless it’s a Gulfstream V.

Boston took back his company-issued StarTac

  2. xpensivewinos - Aug 25, 2012 at 3:30 PM

Wow, the Dodgers sure took on a lot of salary in order to get Nick Punto on their team :)

  3. 18thstreet - Aug 25, 2012 at 3:30 PM

Bon voyage! Godspeed! Vaya con Dodgers!

    YAY!!!

  4. fanoredsox - Aug 25, 2012 at 3:32 PM

Next year they will win the series.. That’s Beckett’s M.O.! Goes to a team and they win (the whole please the new Boss thing) Then he will eat chicken, drink beer, get a new longer contract and doom the Dodgers clubhouse!!!!!!

    • keithbangedyermom - Aug 25, 2012 at 3:43 PM

And it will probably be worth it too.

    • yankeesgameday - Aug 25, 2012 at 4:36 PM

No, in LA it will be chicken and waffles.

      • bigharold - Aug 25, 2012 at 6:36 PM

        Chicken and Chablis…

  5. ahmiller21 - Aug 25, 2012 at 3:35 PM

As a long time Red Sox fan I thank and respect Josh Beckett for helping us win championships. As a long time Red Sox fan I also say good riddens to bad rubbish and hopefully they will have a united clubhouse now.

    • paperlions - Aug 25, 2012 at 4:08 PM

But….why would you think that? Punto, Crawford, and Gonzalez are universally like and have never been considered club house problems. Beckett can be a pain in the ass, but it isn’t like he has ring-leader tendencies…he more does his own thing.

This just looks like change for the sake of change….the RS can say they are doing things to fix a problem….but it isn’t like they are sending off guys that are typically club house problems….the problems are still in Boston, in the manager’s office and up stairs.

Never underestimate the Boston sports media to make shit up to sell some papers.

  6. aceshigh11 - Aug 25, 2012 at 3:38 PM

Thanks for 2007, Mr. Beckett, but believe me, most of us fans are as happy seeing your bloated ass and bad attitude being shipped out of town as you are leaving it.

    Good luck in LA, gentlemen.

  7. tooz72 - Aug 25, 2012 at 3:39 PM

    Beckett = cancer

  8. btwicey - Aug 25, 2012 at 3:44 PM

Good for them, it’ll be a nice fresh start

  9. crisisjunky - Aug 25, 2012 at 3:54 PM

It’s Beckett’s phone.. fished from the cabin toilet, having been dropped while trying to balance
drumstick, beer and said phone while negotiating his fly.
The grainy effect is from the patina of blue water on the lens.

Adios boys….the Sox can be the Sox again!

    • manchestermiracle - Aug 25, 2012 at 11:32 PM

Crappy and looking up at the Yankees from the basement? Careful what you wish for….

  11. j0esixpack - Aug 25, 2012 at 4:00 PM

I’m sure the jet was well stocked with fried chicken and beer.

  12. pftcensorssuck - Aug 25, 2012 at 4:01 PM

One last “F.U.” to the team that did nothing put pay each of them mega-millions of dollars.

    Jacka$$es.

    Good riddance.

  13. dmarzo1 - Aug 25, 2012 at 4:03 PM

I am surprised that Adrian Gonzalez didn’t let them use his phone.

    • D.J. Short - Aug 25, 2012 at 4:15 PM

      Oh, that’s good.

    • sabathiawouldbegoodattheeighthtoo - Aug 25, 2012 at 4:24 PM

      Kelly Shoppach kept it.

    • Francisco (FC) - Aug 27, 2012 at 10:03 AM

I am surprised that Adrian Gonzalez didn’t let them use his phone.

You know the old saying: Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice…

  14. realgone2 - Aug 25, 2012 at 5:46 PM

So if the plane crashes in the Andes how much chicken and beer can they live off of until help arrives?

    • mcsnide - Aug 25, 2012 at 8:18 PM

If they crash in the Andes, they’ll just survive off the corpse of whoever was supposed to be navigating cause that clown was obviously brain-dead to start with.

  15. pisano - Aug 26, 2012 at 1:23 AM

That picture of Beckett smiling is a first for me. I’ve never seen a smile on that assholes face before.

    • manchestermiracle - Aug 26, 2012 at 7:40 PM

Gosh, with fans like you I can’t imagine why not….
