But Werner is right that Loney was once untouchable. It was the day a couple of years ago when he went 4 for 4 with a HR.

Of course the next day he went back to very touchable and has stayed there ever since.

All Werner said was that it brings them a player who once was “untouchable”.

I’d love the guy too if I just dumped $270 million in bad contracts and a malcontent player for $12 million in cash and several prospects and all I had to do was take Loney’s expiring contract.

Haha. I agree, he’s going pretty far to “instill confidence” on the player he is getting back. However, he IS saying the truth – Loney was a pretty big prospect at one point. Also, lefties love Fenway Park.
