Rizzo admires Davey; he’s said so on numerous occasions. Davey went without managing for years, but clearly, has his enthusiasm back. So they yelled at each other once. Big deal.

The Nats have gone through 2012 largely slump-free. Now, they’re having a slump. How they deal with it will indicate how much they’ve progressed as a contender this season. Getting Ian Desmond and Michael Morse back (hopefully, tomorrow) should help.

Natslady, the shutdown may work out in the end but this weekends series should show you that anything can happen when you face good pitching in a series. The Phillies swept with half of a triple-A lineup because of the pitching. In the playoffs the Nats will see nothing but good pitching. you can’t take anything for granted. Strasburg should pitch in the playoffs. Jordan Zimmerman is a stud but Gio can dominate for 7 or have 110 pitches after 5. Then Edwin Jackson can be a total hit or miss as all of his former teams know. I know I’d want Strasburg pitching that first game of any playoff series.

41% agree with the shutdown. 11% disagree. 42% had the good sense mind their own business (“Don’t Know”).

So it isn’t just us locals.

Rizzo needs to take a freaking pill. This franchise accomplished next to nothing for how long? Now they have the best record in baseball and because they lose 4 games in a row, he’s lighting up Johnson? In years past, they’d have welcomed a 4-game losing streak. It would have been one of the shorter ones of the season.
