I do see a little twitch with his glove hand, but I think the ball doesn’t actually get to his throwing hand until right after that, where he takes it out the traditional way.

And he’s not catching the ball “blind” either. He turns his head around completely, the opposite way (over his right shoulder) and watches the ball rebound off the wall, too, btw.

Beefy- he certainly does not. Like I said, this gif plays super slow mo, frame by frame for me. It’s a 60 second gif for me. He catches the ball, the glove swipes toward his hip and then back in front. He makes the exchange as the batter transfers weight to his right leg. Seen in super slow mo it’s rather quite clear.
