Based on the headline, you’d think that it was some kind of tantrum he threw to the press. It’s damning that the blog post doesn’t even include exactly what Lynn said. Sensationalistic garbage.

It’s really a no brainer for Matheny. If you look at what he has done since the All Star break (versus Joe Kelly) this is exactly what needs to happen. As a local kid I would like to see him make it back to the rotation. But he proved last year he is very well suited for the relief role.

Well, hang on. Generally, in headlines like this, “not happy” means (or is meant to be interpreted as) “wronged and disgruntled and eager to vent his grievances to the media.” In this case, it seems to mean “disappointed that his own ineffectiveness cost him a starting job that wasn’t originally supposed to last all season anyway.”

From the article: “‘You can’t be excited when you’re not doing well,’ said Lynn, who actually has had only one loss and four no-decisions in his last five starts. ‘I can do better.’”

From last night’s game wrap in the Post, after his first appearance back in the pen: “‘We’ve got a good setup down there to make a good run here,’ Lynn said. ‘It was OK for the first one, getting back into it. Hopefully, I’ll build off that one and do better the next time out.’”

On a scale from 1 to Aceves, this story is about a 2.

You fell apart in August Lance. Ran out of gas, this is a good move for you for the rest of the year. Come back next year and do it again, but be able to hold up the entire year next time.
