Brett Lawrie was blocked at the time anyway. Weeks was an all star. Your not going to get rid of an all star for a prospect.

Without Marcom The Brewers dont make the playoffs. Nevermind what happend in the playoffs. He helped them get there. You didnt know he was going to run out of gas.

The brewers gave up Brett Lawrie for Marcum straight up. Brewers knew they had a problem player in Lawrie who would be a negative impact in the clubhouse. In spite of all of his talents he was not going to fit into Milwaukee’s future plans. I think if the Brewers had the chance again they would make the same trade again.

I’m always willing to let a prospect go in exchange for a proven arm. Marcum while has had some issues staying healthy this year, did give a solid performance last season, in fact he carried the pitching staff the first part of the season last year.

What was Marcum’s ERA during that playoff run? Any Brewers fans who took off his/her rose colored glasses saw a pitcher whose arm was tired, and he had run out of gas at season’s end.

Everyone knew last year was the Brewers’ chance to win it, and they did well, but it’s gonna be a while before they sniff the playoffs again. Waiving Marcum and trying to get something for him now is a good move.

actually its a win for Milwaukee… they made the NLCS. The Blue Jays haven’t pade the playoffs since when???

High likelihood that he gets traded for what they can get. He’s a very good pitcher, but probably not going to get a qualifying offer from the Brewers who need to find out how the young arms in the system will fare.
