Look at those names – Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Jimmie Foxx, Ralph Kiner… and it hadn’t been done since Kiner in ’50 and ’51. Now, we have had four players in the last six years accomplish this achievement, and none are putting together anywhere close to HOF careers.

No, I’m not going on some rant about how the integrity of baseball is ruined, and I’m certainly not stating any relation to PED’s. It’s just an oddity of the game that can’t be ignored – that it appears more players are popping up with outstanding nights in what is otherwise mundane individual season performances.

I would not be surprised (though I don’t expect it) if the Brewers just release Rodriguez today and let anyone else fight for him. The Brewers can’t give him the ball any more.

And a word of warning to all you GMs out there. Remember back in December, Rodriguez was only tendered to increase compensation when he was expected to leave as a free agent. Backfire.
