Belichek wouldn’t have worked with this bunch . . . and Belichek wouldn’t have hesitated to cut many of them loose – if it weren’t for the guaranteed contracts.

This team would have needed someone more in the mold of Doc Rivers.

If he’s the captain of the team doesn’t he have an obligation be accountable for the team’s actions? We rip on Beckett for not doing exactly this last season, and then we complain when someone does what we ask?

I love how everyone calls him a whiner and talks about how he is in the lockerroom. None of us are in there, we have no idea what he’s really like. From my experience, people who play that hard are rarely if ever the whining type.

Pedroia needs to just be quiet and play ball. He allowed his very mini use success to get to his head. He’s a good player – He isn’t great. He plays hard – but he needs to stop with the arrogance. He’s a complimentary player and not the focal. When he becomes the focal – well…you see what’s happening on Boston now.

Don't forget Soriano. He speaks like The Man Who Is Not There. But, I think my favourite ball player for an interview has to be That Hawaiian Man in ~~Philly~~ LA. Best interview ever. One question and he can blather for 20 minutes without saying anything controversial. Its all one long cliche.

Dustin Pedroia baseball player: Above average skills. A truly gifted player. He plays hard and is they type of on field player you want young players to emulate. Dustin Pedroia in the locker room: Whiner and complainer who basically couldd be accused of insubordination toward his manager. A guy who you wish would just STFU and play baseball.

Time to suspend Pedroia for a few games, make him fly on UPS planes to away games, and switch him to left field every other game. Then dump him for nothing to the Royals in the off-season.

Sure it will be a AAA lineup next year, but at least they’ll show some respect to the front office …

Today on Hard Boston Talk: Dustin Pedroia, Uncovered. Tomorrow, David Ortiz: Bares All. Next week Bobby Valentine: His Heart On His Sleeve. Jeez.

I tried reading Pedrioa’s interview (becasue basically I’m bored & got a mid week day off) but I was immediately reminded about why I hate Jock Talk so much: no one hired these guys for their communication skillz and it is never more apparent than when they get all “long answer” during the interview.

Really, Crash Davis did the baseball world a favour when he laid out EXACTLY how to give an interview. Seems to me the problem with all this roiling controversy is not only the rabid Boston media but ALSO the players not knowing when to engage in the use of the cliche.

Red Sox Players, pay attention:

Crash Davis: It’s time to work on your interviews.
Red Sox Players: My interviews? What do I gotta do?
Crash Davis: You’re gonna have to learn your clichés. You’re gonna have to study them, you’re gonna have to know them. They’re your friends. Write this down: “We gotta play it one day at a time.”
Red Sox Players: Got to play… it’s pretty boring.
Crash Davis: ‘Course it’s boring, that’s the point. Write it down.

The best way to get rid of this garbage is to trade Pedroia while he’s still worth something. The guys a trouble maker, Tito babied him so he expected Valentine to do likewise.
