Their catchers can’t hit for shit.

Does anyone know why they wouldn’t treat their catchers as relief pitchers, and pinch hit for them every at bat? Chris Gimenez got the winning hit, but he is horrible. With 4 catchers on the 40 man roster, why doesn’t each one get pinch hit for every time it is his turn at bat.

Want to turn a .510 OPS catching platoon into a .700+? Have Pena, Fuld, Scott, Keppinger, etc etc pinch hit every at bat. Use 4 catchers per game.

I remember thinking in the off season that the Rays should have traded one of their pitchers for a good and consistent bat, but with Niemann’s injury, it’s a good thing they didn’t.
