Joey Votto was expected to come off the disabled list and rejoin the Reds’ lineup today, but his return from two knee surgeries has been delayed for at least one more day.

Votto homered Saturday and then took Sunday off, but instead of playing against the Phillies this afternoon he’ll remain at Triple-A for Louisville’s final game of the season.

Tom Groeschen of Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Votto is expected to come off the DL tomorrow, but also notes that the Reds haven’t announced anything officially and clearly they aren’t interested in rushing the former MVP back.

Living not far from Cincy and seeing the weather, I wouldn’t have been surprised if he wasn’t going to play anyway. Its wet and coming off of a knee injury, doesn’t seem to make sense to come back in sub-optimal conditions.
