Roger Clemens on pitching in the bigs this year: “I don’t see it happening”

Sep 4, 2012, 3:00 PM EST

Roger Clemens pitches for the Skeeters again in a couple of days. He had a press conference about it this afternoon and said this:

He said he’s “just having fun,” is not looking past his next indy league start and is not doing this to push his Hall of Fame clock back.

He also said that his real name was Anastasia Romanov, daughter to the Czar.

He also said that he didn’t do steroids.

      lol Well done.

I feel sorry for the Czar, he will receive a very small dowry in exchange for his daughter’s hand; she’s a rather ugly and hair girl.

So there is a God, after all. Unless that just means he is getting in shape for 2013. Yikes, what a thought.

Prettty obvious that what he wants is to go into the Hall in the uniform of the Sugarland Skeeters – class all the way, that guy.

He misremembered that “I don’t seeing it happening” doesn’t make any sense.

Has anyone ever had votes for the HOF, then made a come back? How would that work?

    • dondada10 - Sep 4, 2012 at 3:25 PM

      Minnie Minoso.

      • dlf9 - Sep 4, 2012 at 5:27 PM

Jose Rijo retired in 1995 and received a HOF vote in 2001. He returned in 2001 and pitched about 90 innings combined in ’01 and ’02. He was again eligible for the HOF in 2008, but got no votes and dropped off the ballot.

      • braddavery - Sep 4, 2012 at 8:04 PM

Oh cool. That is what I was wondering, if HOF consideration re-ups again 5 years later, after re-retiring, after already getting a HOF vote 5+ years earlier.

    • Detroit Michael - Sep 4, 2012 at 5:29 PM

Jose Rijo is another guy who received a Hall of Fame vote and then returned to the majors.

Jim Palmer started making a comeback after he was inducted into the Hall of Fame, but it didn’t get too far (if memory serves me well).

Scooped by two minutes! I didn’t see the above post before I mentioned Rijo.

  6. dondada10 - Sep 4, 2012 at 3:27 PM

Dondada on Clemens saying he’s not coming back this year: “That’s bullshit.”

Not only does this diva prick want to come back so he can reset his HOF clock, he also wants to be begged back.

It’s hilarious watching people get their knickers all in a twist over an old pitcher throwing in a couple of independent league games.

The speculation, assigning of motives, disgust, rage, etc reveals much more about the commentators than it does about Roger Clemens.

    • dondada10 - Sep 4, 2012 at 3:47 PM

Yes, but what does it say about the commentator who needs to put him self on an online moral pedestal?

    • stex52 - Sep 4, 2012 at 4:07 PM

Pretty much agree, Jeff. So far that is all he is doing. It got all pumped up on very little hard evidence. But I’d hate to see it happen. Not so much from a moral point of view. Just seems to much like a circus sideshow. I really want the Astros to stay away from that.

Czar or tsar. Different spellings for the same word.

I’m not sure if you were actually trying to correct Craig’s spelling or if you’re just making a joke. Perhaps you could clarify your intentions in the future.

Well of course he doesnt see it happening… who do you think he is? Canseco?

  11. adeedothatswho - Sep 4, 2012 at 7:42 PM

I’m pretty sure Rog just wanted to play for Sugarland so, like the rest of us, we’d still have a reason to yell ‘AWWWWWWW SKEET SKEET SKEET SKEET SKEET’. Well done, Rog. Well done.

  12. mazblast - Sep 5, 2012 at 1:11 AM

Ever the attention whore, isn’t he?

  13. materialman80 - Sep 5, 2012 at 11:09 AM

I don’t think anybody wants to see Clements back in the major leagues. I know I don’t.
