Young will probably be kept for minor league depth. He’s currently on a minor league contract, at this point in his career he can’t get much. Bringing back Shoppach looks like a must at this point.

Derek Lowe is done. He had fear in his eyes during the Orioles series. Can’t imagine him as a 40 year old starting pitcher.

Given how thin that outfield is, and how thin the otherwise improved farm system is with outfielders as well, I think Hairston will get a nice offer from the Mets for sure.

I think they also try to bring back Shoppach, who seems to be fitting in well with the younger pitchers. Rauch and Young, however, are probably gone. I like what Young’s done, but there is no place for him in a healthy rotation that projects to be a lot younger.

Scott Hairston will probably return to the Mets as they are very thin on right-handed bats. He’s started every game the Mets have had versus lefties this year.

I disagree with you on Soriano…. if Mo is indeed coming back next yr i think that Soriano opts out cause he can and will get a decent closer contract for a team like the Sox, Mets, among many others.
