HBT Extra: And the most disappointing team of 2012 is …

Sep 7, 2012, 10:35 AM EDT

That was one of the Twitter questions I was asked. And really, the questions this week really skewed towards real baseball. I guess I need to do these more often. You’re off your Aquaman game.

      Leave Tiffany alone!

    Vernon Wells. Its his fault.

    • stlouis1baseball - Sep 7, 2012 at 11:10 AM

      Or perhaps Dusty Baker Cur.

      • cur68 - Sep 7, 2012 at 11:29 AM

Oh no, StLouis. Not DB. In this case, when stacked up against the Hoofed One, Vernon Wells, Mr. Baker is merely Evil Lite. One Calorie Evil. The Tab of evil. Nope. It’s Wells. The man is The Devil.

Watch Tiffany when she’s happy about something, eh? You see sunshine, little birds fluttering around, unicorns smiling, beasts frolicking in the field, rainbows and all that crap. Wells will ruin that. He’s strike out. Ground out. GIDP. Pop out. Foul out. Should by some reason he manage to get on base by way of walk or error: TOOTBLAN. He will do it often enough, in as many crucial situations enough, that eventually the Angels will see their post season chances fading away, like tears in the rain.

Make no mistake, Vernon Wells the person is a kind, funny man. A do-er of good deeds. A charitable person. Likeable in many ways, in fact. But Vernon Wells The Ballplayer? Hooves, Horn & Tail: the man is Beelzebub in a red uniform basking like a lizard in the Kalifornia sunshine.

Damn. Writing all that moved up my incept date. All those moments will be lost in time….

I am surprised you picked up for the Phillies…maybe that girlfriend of yours is making you a softer, more gentle person? Personally, I don’t there is any excuse for going 10-17 against the Mutts and Marlins. Injuries or no injuries, the Phillies have been the most disappointing team this year. Their over/under was 97.5 and they may not even finish .500. I wonder when the last time a team was predicted to win 97.5 games didn’t even reach the .500 mark.

  4. proudlycanadian - Sep 7, 2012 at 11:06 AM

Too many talented players on the Angels and not enough at bats to go around. The team played its best when it was dealing with injuries and didn’t have to make decisions about who to start.

  5. areyesrn - Sep 7, 2012 at 11:12 AM

even if Utley, Howard, Halladay, Polanco, Worley, Stutes and Ruiz all didn’t succumb to injuries this year, their bullpen is still awful. last year the Cards were able overcome their injuries and bullpen issues. Phillies wouldn’t have…

Remember how we always used to give web addresses starting with “aych tee tee pee colon backslash backslash,” and we don’t do that any longer becasue they all start that way? Same thing with twitter handles. I think Tiff can lose the “at” when doing this piece.

    • baccards - Sep 7, 2012 at 1:29 PM

The non-twitter world needs the @ so we can know immediately that what follows is “fluff” –
To see @insertname here as opposed to insertname here let’s us skip ahead without reading the twitter verbage. Having to read the words and then realize it is a twitter feed is a punishment ranking close to forced lobotomy. And, as a matter of even smaller importance, the preferred spelling of “H” is aitch, with haitch being acceptable. Oh, and those are slashes, not backslashes.

I was specifically referring to Tiffany’s saying “and this one from Twitter user (at)baccards”. We know she’s referring to a Twitter user. Every Twitter handle has the @. It’s extraneous information that doesn’t contribute to identifying the person.

    Red Sox honorable mention?

Loving the Yankees fade up here in Hub of Universe. Hopefully they sneak into the playoffs and get clobbered in ALDS…

Lotta sweaty New Yorkazzz these days.
Giants stink out the Meadowlands on NFL showcase opening nite and the Yankees look older than dirt. 6 Dingers!!??!?!?
    Bahahahahahhaa!!!!!

Should be the Red Sox or Marlins. At least Philly is having a decent second half, the team isn’t continuing to fall apart, and not everyone hates their manager.
