Look in the upper deck at a yankme stadium. It is as empty as can be. The only reason fenway sells out is because it holds 20,000 fans.
Thanks to all of my O's supporters proving our faithfulness to the O's, whilst shunning Angelos. It's the truth and any local knows it, and honestly, no other fanbase can understand what it's like...

Just wanted to piggy back on the reasoning for poor attendance. One of the MAJOR contributing factors to daily attendance is preseason sales. Coming into this season, everyone predicted this team to be worse than years past, possibly breaking the 100 loss mark. With that in mind, people's general reaction was "another year, another losing season, and Angelos did NOTHING in the off-season to help this team yet again." result? Taking my money to the Ravens games instead. Walk up tickets were being charge a 'convenience charge' so people declined that as well. It all adds up to empty seats.

Luckily they're rolling back prices FINALLY this week and the result? Near sell outs against the Rays next week. This town can make it happen, but Angelos is like the roach at a fancy restaurant. No matter how bad you want to go, you can't help but get a sick feeling in your stomach...

Last time I went to an O's Yankees game in Camden yards, I witnessed a drunk fan in a Jeter uniform, getting escorted out of the stadium after picking a fight in the stands, punch a state trooper in the back of the head, nearly knocking him over the railing off the top deck. I let out a hearty laugh when 6 undercover and uniformed cops swarmed the jerk and promptly took him down faster then you could blink.

Baltimore is and always will be a baseball town first and foremost. However, after 15 years of Peter Angelos, I can say the attendance is a reflection of our attitude toward ownership. Fans vote with their wallets, it's the only voice we have anyone will listen to. I personally know plenty of people who refuse to go to games as long as Angelos remains majority owner. Last night was simply a reminder of what this town is capable of. Winning cures all ills, and as long as the team continues to perform at this level, and Ownership continues to not blunder things up, and actually puts some money in the team, we will show in force.

You know, people who jump and down about attendance really get on my nerves. Explain to me why after 15 years of complete ineptitude I should be expected to spend $45 or more on a ticket, $5 on "convenience fees", $3 to print out my ticket on my own damn paper, $20 on parking, $9 per beer, $6 per soda, $7 for a hotdog just to watch a team that's funded by an owner who owns the television rights to TWO teams on his own personal tv network year in and year out refuse to spend any money and watch the team fail. Thanks, but I'll stay at home and wait for the team I care so deeply about to show they care about their fans.

Before the Nats arrived in 2005, the Orioles had both the Baltimore and Washington markets. I'm sure that paper's source shows the latter market to be significantly larger. Still quite a few Orioles fans in the Washington market, a leftover from the 33 seasons when the O's were the only team available.

Seriously Calcaterra, you're trolling O's fans now? All because of something written by The Sun, in jest? You're better than that.

If ever a fan base needed to be left to simply enjoy their team's much needed success, it's the Orioles.

Regarding heckling Yanks fans, I was at the game, and *barely* even saw a Yankee fan. There was one in my section, one. And he was rooting for ARod, oddly enough. Every time ARod came to bat he stood up and tried to make noise, and got the crap booed out of him for his efforts. I mean, ARod? Stand up and clap for Jeter, I can respect that. Hell, I clapped for Jeter in his first at-bat as did a lot of my fellow fans.

There were so few Yankee fans there, I didn't get a chance to heckle. And those that were walking by me on the concourse would not make eye contact. They know they've been creeps in the past. It's like when you catch a dog peeing on the rug, and he slinks off into a corner because he knows he's been bad.

They know. And so do those smackturds from Boston.

Setting aside the Angelos hate--which, believe me, Nats fans share to the nth degree!--this is an interesting test of the market supporting two ML teams. Both teams are good, exciting and in the pennant mix. Nats vs. Cubs only drew 22K last night (even with a giveaway). Now, tonight is Nats vs. Fish (not a big draw) and it's starting to be a foregone conclusion the Nats are playoff bound, but it is Strasburg's last home game.

I totally hope O's fans show up en masse to support their team. I also hope there will be plenty of Nats fans out to support Stras!

I thumbed you down because Baltimore isn't actually in the bottom 5. Being a stickler for facts, I tend to be annoyed by people that can't be bothered to take 5 seconds to see if their "facts" are true.

Also, fun fact:

Market size:

Tampa 1,822,160
Pittsburgh 1,156,460
Baltimore 1,102,080

So.....you were saying....?

Seriously????? Did you even read the slide show?? Anyone calling this "classless" please go to the site and read the items in the slide show. They are pranks to play on New Yorkers and it is clearly ment to be a joke. The only thing even close to classless is the first option of "spilling pop corn" on yankee fans. Other than that it's just jokes like "ask them to borrow money" "remind them Babe Ruth is from Baltimore" and of course "go to the games." What is classless about this list?
