Has Melky finally pushed us into the “Age of Accusation”? Will any player doing better than they “should” find themselves cast as suspicious?

Maybe Bill James could come up with a handy probability ratio for us…I would then appreciate it if he shared it with the weather forecasters so that we could get that predictability straightened out once and for all too..

You can’t even do wild unfounded accusations properly. Try thinking about how RBIs happen, especially the whole “someone else getting on base” part.

You should be doubting the guys hitting in front of Headley, not Headley himself. Where are the fingers pointing at Will Venable, Chris Denorfia, and Logan Forsythe?

Yep, that must be it. Couldn’t possibly be that Headley’s having a nice year, he’s on a hot streak, and (for the first time since forever) the guys in front of him are actually getting on base.

Let’s see: a veteran player who has never had over 64 RBIs in a season is suddenly on pace to DOUBLE that this year… mostly in a terrible park for power hitters.
Seem a little suspicious?
Hope he didnt get a hold of Melky’s unused stash.

It’s amazing the numbers he has posted after the trade deadline, I wonder how many teams were close to making a trade for him. One of the best trades the Padres never made.

Padres need to lock him up yesterday. Headley and Quentin make a legit middle of the order. The Pad’s are 10 games over .500 since the All-Star break and will be getting some of their young arms back next year. No reason they can’t contend in the NL West.
