Angels phenom Mike Trout was at it again Saturday night in Anaheim, leading off a 6-1 victory over the Tigers with a home run then ending the game by robbing Prince Fielder at the center field wall.

The big fly was Trout’s 26th of the 2012 season and the home run-robbing grab was his fourth. The 21-year-old is now batting .329/.394/.568 with 111 runs scored, 44 stolen bases and 76 RBI in 536 plate appearances.

MLB.com has the video highlight of Trout’s gorgeous catch:

      Hahahaha!!!!

It’s like the Angels are cheating by having a player as good as Trout.

    Wow.

Tori Hunter: “Hey Mike! Got a little Captain in ya?”
Trout: “Damn straight I do! Have you seen how I’ve been playing this year? Somebody put a “C” on my jersey.”

    This kid is…how to put it… other-worldly-legit.

    He has a real chance at 30 homers and 50 SB’s…as a rookie… what?

      Arrogant punk.

Haha! Drew just got my vote for HarballTalk headline of the year.

Bold Prediction of the day: Mike Trout will be the next 40/40 player.

    Lovin Trouts year!

    • jon623 - Sep 9, 2012 at 2:48 PM

I think the Chinese should make 2012 the year of the Trout.

  8. sjhaack - Sep 9, 2012 at 3:21 PM

He might not have had to jump if he’d taken a route to the ball that wasn’t awful.

    • cosanostra71 - Sep 9, 2012 at 5:54 PM

Yes, he probably could have just reached over the fence flat footed if he had taken a better route to the ball.

The only press this kid gets is good PR. When he screws up, no one writes about that. See the headline today? Yeah, but when he was playing the Tigers in Detroit and got 1 hit in 3 days, did you see: “Trout Strikes Out”? No, you didn’t. Because that would ruin the Wonderboy story. Betting that the summary of today’s game will stress his homer off of Sanchez but not his SO…

    • cosanostra71 - Sep 9, 2012 at 5:55 PM

Why should the press tear him down? No one is perfect!

    • jjschiller - Sep 9, 2012 at 9:45 PM

      Yeah Pal, good thought.

How about “Trout Fails: Hitting Streak Falls Short of 162″

What player gets written about for taking two 0-fer’s?

      Hahahaha!

    make that multiple strike outs

  11. mrredlegz - Sep 9, 2012 at 10:24 PM

I thought I read somewhere that the Angels might be in Cincy for opening day next year…..

If that’s the case, somebody oughtta buy me a ticket so I can go see this kid play.

As far as the negative comments up there….seriously? What is there not to like about Mike Trout?

Best player in MLB right now.
