Raissman, besides being a “columnist” for the Daily News, is also a commenter on the Mets sports network, SNY. He is the most negative writer you’ll ever run across and has had a vendetta going against YES for years. Why the Daily News continues to employ him is beyond me. His being an employee of a competing network and being allowed to comment about YES is in the very least an ethics violation. The next time he writes something positive about ANYTHING will be the first time he’s ever written (or had) a positive thought.

I think a bigger outrage should be the way the Baltimore Sun and MASN covered/reported the end of Sat’s game. The paper never mentioned the blown call, MASN never showed a replay. Yeah, makes a lot of sense.

The YES network sucks, almost as much as NESN. I mean, they hired John Sterling to do their TV broadcasts. For that alone they should be forever pissed upon.

Cal in on XM all the time. He hosts a show with his brother. Do i need to hear what he has to say during a Yankees/O’s game? NOPE. Cal is cool and all and I like his brother, but there’s no need to have him on New York television. Keep him on national airwaves and that’s it.

How about by 400+ HRs and 3,000+ hits, ya know, something Ripken and only 6 other players have done…

Oh and Ripken is the only IF from the left side of the diamond. But yeah, he’s only mentioned because he did something no one else did, not that he wouldnt have been able to set the record if he wasnt fielding and defending at a pretty darn good clip.

It was also Cal Ripken night. no reason to admonish YES for a programming decision, totally fine with that. But to say Ripken is great is silly.

This is why the sight of Cal Ripken makes my heart sink. Because the second he appears, it’s inevitable some douchelord is going to start waxing poetic about how wonderful he is, about how important his record is, about how it’s “our” record because Cal Ripken stands for all of us, who show up for work day after day. :eyeroll:

If someone in the Yankees’ front office actually did make the call not to have him on the air, that person should be commended for sparing the viewers more of this nonsense.

Hey, here’s a radical thought: The measure of how great a player is, isn’t determined by how many games he played in a row.

In-game interviews, especially on the radio, are just silly. There’s plenty going on, and the broadcasters should be focused on that, except in games down the stretch that don’t matter. This was of course not one of those.

Then again, even second that Waldman and Sterling aren’t talking is to be cherished.
