Talk shit about Canseco all you want–he’s pretty much an asshole, but there’s one undeniable truth: He was THE ONLY PLAYER to step up and honestly admit PED use without being caught first. He single-handedly blew the lid off PED use in the game–without him, the steroid era probably would never have ended. Yeah, it was a little underhanded of him to narc on other players in his book, but why the hell are we turning the one guy in the game who was man enough to own up to what he did–including under oath in Congress FFS–into a villain?

I think Craig is asking why prosecutors go after users like Bonds and not dealers like steroids.com. Canseco is just another user.

However, prescribing a medication for a nonexistent medical problem is a form of fraud and people have been prosecuted for that too. So even if Canseco had a prescription, he could still be pursued, along with the doctor. It would be a waste though; plus I seriously doubt there is a physician involved anyway.

Why aren’t they going after him? Because he is saying he took steroids. If a doctor is prescribing them to him it’s not illegal. Bonds and Armstrong have denied the use and are being prosecuted for lying under oath.
