Rangers rule out serious injury to Roy Oswalt

Sep 10, 2012, 3:17 PM EDT

Roy Oswalt

The good news: Roy Oswalt is not seriously injured. The bad news: it means he’s probably gonna pitch again soon:

Oswalt left Sunday’s start with what was described as right flexor muscle soreness near his elbow. After the game, he said he should be fine in two to three days … Oswalt massaged the area just above his right elbow. He said he’s never had an elbow injury before, but anticipated recovering quickly.

Good news for you Roy, but sorry, Rangers fans.

    No injury. Just crappy pitching.

      Or maybe terrible luck.
      BABIP:.379 (previous career-worst: .317)
      HR/9: 1.82 (1.06)
      LOB%: 65.2 (72.7)

I’m sure he’s as good a physician as he is a starting pitcher.

Next year, the Orioles will probably fall victim to his mid-season “I can pitch you to the play-offs if you give me $3 million dollars for six weeks’ work and then I’m DL-bound” song and dance.

    Some baseball execs never learn…

Or maybe this is still a pretty small sample, riddled with results that are uncharateristic for a guy with his peripherals. Unless you’re willing to buy that he is indeed a pitcher that gives up nearly 2HR per 9IP.

21.1 K% and 4.5 BB% make me believe that he isn’t close to being finished.

100% of Rangers fans would gladly give him to your favorite team.

        So to the Rangers?

        Beefy Trout: mind blown.

chew…. with that being said, he’ll probably be in Boston next year.

He’ll hurt his back massaging his elbow.

Never liked the signing, would rather have Martin Perez pitch than Oswalt. Gotta give these young guys a shot Wash!
