Maybe you bought into the “four aces” marketing too much, but he pitched pretty much exactly how he was expected to before back injuries ended his season prematurely. ERA was slighted inflated, but still below league average, while his FIP was 10% better than league average.

Not going to speak on the “not an AL guy” because this is a narrative that has absolutely nothing to support it. Nor do I have any information of him being a guy with a bad attitude. I don’t remember hearing this about him when he was in Houston or Philadelphia. Seems like you are ex post facto assigning these things to him.

Thanks Texas Rangers for giving us ALMOST something to talk about, but we all knew this was going to happen. Oswalt is not an AL guy, he’s got a bad attitude, and he wasn’t even really all that good in his last job.

He seems not to have understood his own strengths; he has always done a lot of spring tuning and it is clear he just came in not ready to pitch.

I’m not sure how much more he was planning to pitch. But if he didn’t like the offers he got last winter, he is really not going to like them this winter. I imagine he will retire.
