Joe Nathan lost a bet to Mike Adams and had to dress up like Tony Romo

Sep 12, 2012, 11:19 AM EDT

Rangers bullpen-mates Joe Nathan (who grew up in New York) and Mike Adams (who grew up in Texas) made a bet on Wednesday night’s Giants-Cowboys game.

Nathan took the Giants, Adams took the Cowboys, and the loser had to dress up like Tony Romo and wear a full football uniform for all of batting yesterday while signing autographs.

Adams told Richard Durrett of ESPN Dallas that it “is probably the best bet I’ve ever won in my entire life” and Durrett snapped a photo of Nathan in action as Romo:

What’s a “Romo”? Some kind of tomato, isn’t it? And what’s that get up Nathan’s in? Tomato protective gear?

Per Futurama, this is a “Romo”

So he’s dressed like a Robot Hobo? That explains it!

    He looks like a kicker.

A kicker? You owe Nathan an apology for such slander!

      (sarcasm button)

OH MAN! there is no way that a pitcher/catcher/Romo joke is not brewing around here….

I for one find it odd that a pitcher would dress up like Romo on a game day. Romo plays catcher on his nights off. Sorry, that’s all I got.

On a serious note, that’s one of the most severe punishments I’ve seen from an innocent bet.

How many Rangers’ fans thought they were actually getting Romo’s autograph?!

    • hopsbarley - Sep 12, 2012 at 12:11 PM

Because if anyone thought that was Romo they wouldn’t have been asking for his autograph.

Well, I suppose it isn’t as bad as making the Nats’ rookies dress as the US womens’ gymnastics team. On the other hand, the U.S. Womens’ gymnastics team actually won a championship.

Did he have to wear his cap backwards during the game?

The loser of the bet had to wear the winning team’s uniform.
