As bad as the Cubs have been this year…they won 4 of the 6 games played at home against the Cards…and as of today they have been playing a lot better…so the Cards
could have their hands full with the Cubs….Cubs would like nothing better than to sweep the Cards….the Cards last 3 games are with the Nats. who have the best record in baseball……their Home/Away games are pretty much the same…Home or Away…they have the same.record…….

– Technically, the Pirates are contenders. True, that may not last much longer. Include the D-backs? Sure, why not? The more the merrier. The Nats don’t play them again, though.

– The Nats are 10-5 against the Braves. They also helped the Braves collapse last September. Thus, I suppose we Nats fans should hope that the Braves get in. Except that the Braves seem more resilient than they did last September (despite their losses in Milwaukee), so nothing should be assumed.

– Bikini-clad Cholly? Disturbing. But I agree it would be a powerful incentive to win.

Rule went away. Wash can play either Phillies/Braves. Reds can play Cards. Also, just for this year, lower seed gets first two games at home in NLDS and then the higher seed gets 3 at home.

The Phillies are 5-10 against both the Braves and Mutts…for some reason, they just didn’t get up for those two. Hopefully they have seen the light and they wake up.

They are 7-5 against the Nats, so they seem to be playing well against them this year without much incentive.

Right now, I’d be concerned about the Nats hosting the Brewers or Phillies in the division round. I rather suspect Reds fans would be concerned about hosting either as well.

The Nats’ chances of resting starters may be pretty limited because they’re right smack dab in the middle of the race for the National League Death Match(tm). The Nats will play 4 of the 5 wild card contenders (except the Pirates). @Braves, Dodgers, Brewers, @Phillies, @Cards, Phillies.

Keep in mind also that the Reds and Nationals will be battling for the top record, so they may not be resting their starters all that much the last week. Especially now that teams in the same division can play against each other in the NLDS. The NL’s best record will definitely have an advantage because they will play the Wild Card winner. Unless you think the Wild Card winner will be a worse match-up than the Giants?

I’m under the impression that Craig thinks that if he repeats that the Cardinals are still in good shape and that he thinks they will hold onto the second WC spot enough times that it will come to fruition.

In actuality, it’s probably that he is afraid of having his stumbling Bravos play a 1 game playoff against one of the two surging teams vying for that final WC spot.

In 2007, when the Phillies were making a historic run against the Mets, the Nats ended there season series with Phillies-Mets-Phillies. The Nats were 2-5 against the Phillies and 3-0 against the Mets, and the Phillies went from 2 1/2 games back to win the division by a game

This year the Nats end with Phillies-Cards-Phillies……a repeat in the making?
