Typical Yankees moron. Let's put this into perspective. Name one BIG name player to sign with the Yanks recently? Answer: none since CC and Tex, maybe Granderson. They've picked up fill in scrubs like Andru Jones, Eric Chavez, and Swisher, made trades that turned to garbage like Jesus Montero to Seattle for a injury riddled Pineda, but otherwise they've done nothing in recent years. You could sit here and name a ton of players they've missed out on (Wilson, Pujols, Lee, etc.), but fact stands: Yankees are no longer the behemoth stepping on everyone by offering big checks. If players want to go play for the almighty dollar, they can hit Texas, Anaheim, LA, Boston... The market is no longer cornered.

And if you really want to rant on about O's going nowhere but down from here and Yankees peaked at the right time your foolish. Having injured players coming back and ASSUMING they'll play up to par is not peaking buddy. It's called getting healthy. And whether or not the Yankees are healthier (although it's 100% the Yankees fault the O's are without our leadoff in Markakis who's played better offense and defense than any Yankee in that lineup since the AS break) has nothing to do with the O's success. Yanks thought it was in the bag, blew a 10 game lead and now they are looking at the O's eye to eye. And what makes it intolerable is moron fans like you who put on blinders and pinstripe glasses thinking "Everyone sucks but us even though we only have 1 WS to show for it in the past 11 years." I call BS.

You want talk peak? Then I say the Yanks peaked in late 90's/early 2000's and have gone downhill from there. No longer the team they used to be. Now they're a collective group of sloppy seconds to make up for a subpar farm system and over the top contracts that have seen players fall from grace half way through their mega deals (Arod and Tex). And lets look roster spot for spot:

C: Weiters is superior.
1B: I'd take a healthy Reynolds over gimpy Tex.
2B: I'll concede the O's need help.
3B: Machoado hands down after a MONTH. ARod JR.
SS: Hardy is younger, quicker, and only lacks in the hits compared to grandpa Jeter
OF: Gold Glovers Adam Jones and Markakis. No question there. Granderson I'll give you.
SP's: Yanks advantage onyl because of CC. Hammel, Chen, Gonzo are a better middle pack.
BP: O's hands down. Top 3 in baseball.
Closer: Johnson's the best in baseball.
Manager: Buck outduels Girardi. Even Yanks fans will admit.

So where is this Yankee superiority??

"Andy coming back and dominating is a pipe dream."

That was the general feeling coming back after taking last year off. Yet, he was doing great until a fluke play broke his leg.

He doesn't have to dominate he needs to pitch well and keep the Yankees in the game which he'll likely do much better than Garcia.

ust like red sox fans. Payroll blah blah blah. You guys spend so much money its unfair. Times aint changing. Red sox just did a dumb move by letting go of there theo and hiring valentine. The rays are still relevant. I honestly still see the os as the worst team in the al east. Its just an off year for the three other teams. Our payrollnmay be high but our fans pay for all those contracts by guess what? Showing up to the games and supporting them. Buying more shirts then just cal ripken and weiters would help. Im honestly rooting for the os to be relevant its just funny how bandwagon the fans are. And how its bash the yankees when we can cause we are making the playoffs. I read all these article about the "monumental collapse" the yankees just peaked way too early in the season have had a bunch of injuries but now will come back strong. Ur peak can only go one direction from here. I have seen it so many times. Once weiters and jones progress a little more there uniforms are changing. No one wants to play in front of bandwagon fans. They want to be play and caring a tradition.

Didn't they also have a terrible time selling tickets when their new stadium opened because they were priced through the roof? Eventually they had to concede and drop prices because they needed to get their attendance up or else everyday baseball observers would consider fans banwagon since they weren't at capacity everygame.

Dude... just stop. You're embarassing yourself. Bandwagon isn't just about attendance. TV ratings, apparel sales, fanfest events...they don't count right? Only attendance?. If you knew anything about Baltimore, we are not bandwagon fans who only show up when we win, we are supporters of our team who refuse to lend a red cent to the cheap ass Angelos who let this team suffer for so long. It has nothing to do with losing, and everything to do with Angelos. But if you want to go that route, lose for 15 straight years with a terribly cheap and pathetic owner and then call me about empty stadiums. Unfortunately you'd never know about that with your owners inifitely deep pockets to go out and buy top line talent every year by offering outlandish salaries that far surpass any other clubs offers. Call me crazy, but God forbid they ever put a salary cap on baseball like they do every other sport. The Yankees would fall back to earth so quickly you'd be cutting eye holes in paper bags in the blink of an eye. This is why the entire country hates the Yankees and their fans. The pompous attitude, the belittling of other clubs, and the fact that despite the hubris, they've only won ONE world series since 2000. Maybe, just maybe this post of yours is a cry for attention since the Yanks are no longer viewed as the dominant team in the AL East. Maybe it's fear to see the O's make it back into contention. Lets be honest, if the O's weren't tied with the Yanks right now, you wouldn't be posting this. You'd be walking around nose in the air thinking about your team and not focusing on the O's who came from 10 games back to catch up to your Yanks.

But by all means, think what you want. Rely on your 60 year old pitcher coming back, oft injured Tex and ARod, and the rest of the group of agining vets with inflated contracts, and assume nobody will ever match the almighty Yanks for the existence of time, and let's also forget the O's 3 series wins in NY this year, in which Girardi got outmanaged, and the Yanks were outmatched big time. Times are changing. Get used to it.

"With Price and Shields going a sweep is certainly not out of the question."

Price started 4 games against the Yankees this year and although he's 2-1, .. the Rays lost the one game he didn't get the decision. His era was 3.2 but his whip is 1.421. Translation, .. the Yankees have success against him.

Shields is even worse. He's 2-2 in five starts, with a 6.10 era and a 1.5 whip.

Bottom line is the Yankees aren't likely to get swept in general and they do very well against Price AND Shields despite the fact that they are pretty good pitchers.

"What “key components”"

Not just Pettitte, .. Nova who will pitch this series with the Ray and Teixeira. Has that for components baggy digits?

And to that the Yankees have an easier schedule for the remainder of the season and Yankees are still the team to beat in the AL East. And, it's unlikely they'll lose another series let alone get swept.

What a series by the yard birds!! I'll get into it more in tomorrows ATH, but 3 points of emphasis:
1. Having Matusz, Hunter, Wolf all in the BP looks genius now.
2. Macho Man is quick in the hot corner but not when dodging a shaving cream pie.
3. In the event of 14 inning games, I think we need some sort of cheerleaders/ dancers with t shirt cannons. Keep the focus up. Whammy.

Machado's game-winner was on a 3-0 count. Can't imagine too many 20-year-old players getting the green light in that situation -- this year there may be three (Mannny, Bryce, Trout).

What "key components"? T-bag?

Andy is coming back but can you really count on him when he can't even have a proper minor league rehab start?

Yeah cause the Yankees have completely collapsed and sweeping them will actually take less effort than it took to type that statement.

A lot of baseball left and the Yankees are getting key components back.
