In 2011, once they concluded that Victor Martinez couldn’t catch, they didn’t really have an MLB quality back-up catcher and Leyland played Avila almost every day down the stretch.

Well, a sore jaw isn’t that bad, but Avila doesn’t remember the collision. No concussion? Really? Fielder knocked him backwards in time and Avila doesn’t have a concussion? Check him next week: he’ll have caught up in time. I bet he has a concussion then.
