Indeed, soxfan1966. However, I would argue the problem was created not when they TRADED AWAY Adrian Gonzalez but rather when they traded FOR HIM. If Theo hadn’t done so we would still have Kelly and Rizzo, both of which would be cheaper than Adrian Gonzalez and/or Ike Davis.

Instead, Kelly is at the beach in Southern CA and Rizzo? Oh yeah, in the friendly combines with Theo.

The Mets are a AAA organization, make no mistake. Stupid, corrupt, cheap and just plan stupid(againj) During the Finals of the U.S. Tennis Open, the network showed the Met game for a minute during a break, about 5000 lost fans in Sh*ttyField. Way to go Wilpons, get that silver spoon out of your butt. !!Pathetic.

Davis is younger, better defensively, hits for power, and seems to be likable and popular with the fans (Mets fans, correct me if I’m wrong).

Therefore, he is the one who must be dealt.

OK, I got it.

Bud, “in the best interests of baseball”, order the Wilpons to sell the team. I know the Wilpons are friends of yours, but show some mercy on Mets fans.

I agree. If the Red Sox could get Davis without giving up a whole lot, I’d be all for it. The guy has plenty of upside and could potentially be a cheap solution to the Sox’ first base problem created when they dealt away Gonzalez.

I merely stated that if the report is accurate and he refuses to accept coaching it might be better to part ways with him.

I wouldn’t want someone on my team like that, especially if we’re in rebuild mode (and who here thinks they aren’t?) and you plan on having more & more younger players in the mix.

FWIW, coaches generally have just as much ability to screw up mechanics as they do to fix them. There is nothing about “being a coach” that means the person understands as much or more than you do about hitting or that they know what does and doesn’t work for you. There is a difference between working with coaches and blindly following advice…some coaches are more collaborative, some more dictatorial/arrogant.

If a player is already prone to struggle half the time and is so thick-headed they refuse to work with coaches to fix it that is one GREAT reason to part ways (provided that is the actual reason you’re trading him).

Davis reportedly had Valley Fever this past spring. According to people that have had it, it takes a few months to get back to normal. That time frame fits pretty well with Davis’ turn around. One would hope this is just idle speculation by a reporter, because trading a player like Davis for dumb things like not taking coaches advice or staying out later than they would like after games is just a bad baseball move (as there is no evidence that ignoring coaches advice, if that is even true, actually hurts his production).
