Well, if you defined freeway access by the # of major routes nearby, Southern California wouldn’t have any transportation problems. It would be easier for SGV/IE folks for sure. But there’s more money where they are now.

You’re talking 57 to the 60 as the simplest path from the existing fanbase. And that interchange sucks. Or 5-605-60. You’re talking 45 minutes to 1.5-2h to get from the current stadium to the new stadium many evenings. If they played the games at 3am, yes, freeway access is dandy.

The current stadium is by the 5, 57 and by SoCal standards, excellent public transit access.

Which isn’t to say I’m necessarily in favor of the site. I’m just saying it’s not really that hard to get to. Plus, a lot of the fanbase is in Riverside, San Bernardino, and the inland empire. It’s arguably easier to get to for those people.

Industry provides about zero leverage. No one in their right mind would consider it a good location for baseball from an esthetic or business perspective. No transit, highway access from the fanbase is not the greatest (it’s literally a mountain range away from Orange County), etc.

I do think it’s the among the best places for the NFL in LA – 8 games a year on Sundays trying to get 70,000+ in and out is not the same as 81 scattered over a summer. But it’s a downright awful location for baseball.
