I can’t speak for the Tropicana Dump, squatting lonely in the middle of a stalled urban redevelopment area adjacent to the Salvador Dali Museum out on the fringe of civilization waaaayyyyy across the causeway. However, Macondo Banana Massacre Field passed the two million mark in attendance last week. Just thought you ought to do your calculations using the fingers on both hands next time.

And thanks for letting us know that winning teams draw better than losing ones. It’s helpful to know that. I’ll try to call all three of our local Spawrts Tawrk Raydeeo stations and enlighten them about that, even though it will be a shock to their systems.

It actually has NOTHING to do with that.

It does, however, have everything to do with the fact that every time I turn the TV on to a game played in either Miami or Tampa, there are just about 10,000 people lurking around these spacious confines and it’s been this way for YEARS.

The Rays have been a VERY strong team now for 5 seasons and you’d think they’d catch on and actually go to games, but no. People stay away and the team suffers as a result.

As for those in Miami, the taxpayers paid for that eyesore in your backyard and people STILL don’t give a shit about Florida baseball. What is it going to take? Good teams don’t bring ‘em in. New buildings won’t bring ‘em in. How many more tricks do you need to pull to get people down there to care about baseball?

Florida – as far as I’m concerned – is a college football state and as long as professional baseball stays down there it will greatly suffer.

Agree about Lowell. I was surprised that he didn’t wind up coaching the FIU baseball team, since he’s a grad and a huge booster of that university. I would have thought they’d've snapped him right up. He’s even Cuban.

Samson is Scrooge’s stepson. His mother is the former Mrs. McLoria.

Beinfest did add some key pieces to the 2003 team but it still had Dave Dombrowski’s fingerprints all over it.

The success of Ventura with the White Sox has made Ozzie kind of look bad. And I like Ozzie. But the fact that Robin Ventura came in as a first time manager and has basically the same team the White Sox had last year contending for a divisional crown must be weighing on the minds of Marlins management.

Fudd- not necessarily. Had they been productive, ozzies comments would have been forgiven, if not forgotten. But because they’ve played so badly and traded away their best players, the organization has been embarrassed. Someone, or maybe a few people, have to lose their job(s). Winning cures all ills.

Samson is Loria’s son in law, so I doubt he is firing him. He won’t fire himself either after having his handprint on every detail of that new tax payer payed for stadium. He didn’t fire himself after owning the Expos all those years they were terrible. One thing though, they did win the 2003 World Series, and he was owner at the time. I don’t think he had much to do with building the team cause all of the key players were prospects they got back after they won the 1998 World Series, and Wayne Huizenga dismantled that team.

Guillen is a cancer and his act is tired. They need a good, young manager who can grow with this team. There’s always a trend that teams follow and right now, everyone has convinced themselves that the best man for the job is someone with no managerial experience.

I would certainly rather go that route than a retread.
