It’s not like they didn’t realize opponents would hit some HRs this year that wouldn’t have been out of “old” Citi. 21 “new” Citi HRs for the Mets vs. 25 for opponents is hardly them getting “bit in the butt”.

Constructing the park they way they initially did was moronic…moving the fences in was the right move.

The Mets had and have the wrong type of offensive players for their reconfigured ballpark (frankly, the offensive players they had and have aren’t that well suited to the old park, either). Any baseball fan except perhaps the most rabid Mets fan knew it going in. The fans demanded shorter fences and got them, now they have to live with the results. Fortunately, Mets fans are a hardy bunch who have learned to deal with management-created messes for virtually the team’s entire existence.

If management is committed to the reconfiguration, fine, now they can adapt their offensive approach. Or not. You never know when the Wilpons are going to give a sh**.

Jason Bay has warning track power if he’s playing at my kids’ little league fields. As a Nats fan (and internet tough) I’m glad that the Mets are going to keep him.

No surprise really. Davis’s first half swoon, Bay’s permanent swoon, and an iffy bullpen add up. I still prefer seeing Citi as a pitcher’s park but people dig the longball.
