Braun is just that ridiculously good, at everything pertaining to the game of baseball. His game simply has no holes in it. Yeah, he’s a little cocky and I’d probably hate him if he weren’t on “my” team; but he is on my team, and I for one will thoroughly enjoy the ride as i watch his career unfold.

No I am not kidding you. His downfall was his hamstrings, not his work ethic. I’ve no doubt he enjoyed histmie off, but that does not equate to not working hard Feb-Nov. He did, and does, work out–he’s not over weight even now.

Working out “the right way” in his era generally meant taking potent anti-inflammatory medicines, ie steroids.

There was a reason that every year he came back to spring training looking like he ate too much off season.

Dude didn’t work out the right way, didn’t eat right, and didn’t take care of himself the way he needed to.

He is the perfect example (along with example #1 Babe Ruth) the baseball detractors use to say that baseball players don’t need to be in shape to be amazing.

Griffey was not lazy. He was just so good he made it look easy. He got injured repeatedly when he was with the Reds. If he stays healthy those years, yes, he challenges those numbers you mentioned.

On that note, Junior Griffey has to be one of the laziest athletes of our generation. Talented, yes (super fucking talented), but I feel he took it all for granted and felt like he didn’t really have to work at it.

I guess when you hit 600+ home runs, it’s all washed away and you’re just considered amazing, but realistically, this guy should have been 770+ home runs, 3000+ hits, more stolen bases, more RBI, more, more, more.

And he never should have left Seattle, but that’s another conversation for another day.

Explain how Selig hooked him up when MLB tried to suspend him, and Braun had to resort to the arbitration process? Add to that the fact that Selig/MLB fired the arbitrator not long after he ruled in favor of Braun.

If you want to believe that Braun winning his case was wrong, feel free to do so. Attempting to blame Bud Selig for it is just a ridiculous departure from reality however.

Junior did not steal a lot of bases even though he was fast. He only stole as many as 20 twice, 20 in 1998 and 24 in 1999…to go along with 56 and 48 HRs, respectively.

Well, this is good. Braun already made history last off-season by starting the “HEY, LET’S GET JACKED ON TESTOSTERONE AND STILL GET OUT OF A SUSPENSION” club.

And can we talk for one moment about the significance of this whole 40/40 thing? I mean, does this really matter? It’s just another lame baseball stat that has caught some wind because someone managed to find out that before Canseco no one had done it. It’s really stupid.

5 tool players are 5 tool players and if they don’t get 40/40 or 40/30 (which is even MORE lame), does anyone really give a shit?
