Four homeruns for the Astros last night. The pigs were out flying again. The end is surely coming. Seriously, they gave it a real major league effort. Jason Castro had two home runs; that's typically an average month for him. Fielding was fairly crisp, including a beautiful play at 3rd by Dominguez. In a heart-stopping battle of truly awful bullpens, the Astros hung on with a double play to close out. Happy to see the occasional good effort. Maybe the picked up a little despair in the Brewers' game, but they still hung on. And, by the way, that Braun kid is not half bad. He may hang on for a while in the MLB.

Stex- I was being sarcastic. I believe Dominguez is the 3b of the future for the Astros. I dont think Marlins should have gave him up for the Carlos Lee whose career is pretty much over. Not to mention Marlins are in last place. They could have utilized Dominguez.

Matt Dominguez has actually been better than any previous option at 3rd. He made a gorgeous catch at 3rd while the Astros were well ahead; since they only won 7-6 it was actually pretty big. OPS .778 to date. I know batting is supposed to be the weakness; we'll see how he goes into next year. I'm glad El Caballo got a bit of a run with the Marlins. But it's kind of hard to see him having enough power left to be worth much as a 1st baseman. There is a lot to like about his attitude and overall hitting, but very little power.

At the risk of starting a rash of shit about the MVP thing again, it seems worth pointing out that the Tigers left men on base last night and not bringing them home made for a loss.
If I'm a Gloryholes fan, I'd rather see them go face a Razed team wound too tight about being on the cusp of afterthoughthood. Having said that, I'm in no hurry to see the Bernoulli Twins act atop the Designatedhitterball League East come to any sort of resolution any sooner than it has to. It's been way too much fun, and with no horse of my own in the race the bar gals up at the Luna Star Cafe can still sit there trying not to get caught staring and my exemplary cutlicles. And I do hope Peter Angelos accompanies the team. The Salvador Dali Museum is just cattycorner across the road from the stadium that gives Morlock domes a bad name, and it would be nice to imagine one genius paying homage to the work and memory of another rather than depress himself sitting inside a mausoleum for three hours.

Nats game was pretty much over in the 2nd inning. Davey used his B-bullpen and took out 7 of the eight regulars (only Espinosa was in, playing SS). Harper kept fighting, that Kid is something else.

Got two tough pitchers to face (Lohse and Lynn) but I have a hard time believing both Jordan Zimmermann and Ross Detwiler will falter. One of them will pitch a gem, maybe both. We would like to clinch tonight (Metsies, once more with vigah!) to save Davey having a heart attack.

Watching the O's with amazement and admiration. Same for the A's. Also like seeing the ChiSox come back to life as that is my hometown.

Carlos Lee, who has been just awful of late and seen his average plummet close to twenty points without the Iron Giant to protect him in the lineup for the last ten games, plunks a single into left center and the Feesh do the mudskipper routine walkin off on their feens. It was sadly ironic that Lee's performance went Coriolis on him just as his agent was starting to make noises about a contract with the Feesh for next season. Ah well. Incredibly, there was some conversation on one of the local static boxes about how much it would mean to the team to have a healthy Tweeter back by spring. Huh? Do the Feesh have a shortage of heeters who can leave runners stranded in scoring position? Are they undersupplied with Mendoza liners or at least ".248" heeters? Hell, the Hanster imploded after Scrooge McLoria bestowed that accursed blood diamond studded .342 amulet upon him in 2010. What is he gonna do now, commemorate Larry Oktoberfest's comment that Tweeter is "not a .248 hitter" (he was right: he's a .230 heeter) by giving him a rhinestone-encrusted .248 amulet and hope it has the opposite effect? I remain flubbergusted by the Feesh's fascination with the one-dimensional mediocrity.

The Iron Giant crushes a moonshot off Cliff Lee on his first night back after nearly two weeks off with a bruised oblique. It's no coeencidence that the team did nothing while he was out of the lineup; they've got no meaningful offense without heem.

There seems to be a consensus forming among the local spawrts "journalists" in print and on spawrts gibber raydeeo that Slobbering Ozzie will be with us for another season. Two things have played into this tentative conclusion: the notochord trust has been actively discussing the makeup of next season's team weeth heem, and Scrooge McLoria would have to pay heem for three more years to go manage for somebody else (sorry, I don't see ESPN as a viable alternative - why should they add semantic incoherence to their analysts' conceptual incoherence?) and that somehow beggars credibility.

I suppose there was some satisfaction in the clubhouse about having knocked the Feelies out for the season, but mathematically eliminating the walking dead is about what the Rainbow Warriors have come to. They've got a pornstar's grip on the basement and about the only comfort left to them is that they won't lose 100 games. This season can't end soon enough for these guys.

Carlos Lee, who has been just awful of late and seen his average plummet close to twenty points without the Iron Giant to protect him in the lineup for the last ten games, plunks a single into left center and the Feesh do the mudskipper routine walkin off on their feens. It was sadly ironic that Lee’s performance went Coriolis on him just as his agent was starting to make noises about a contract with the Feesh for next season. Ah well.
Lost in the Bailey story, Tillman went 8 IP and only gave up a leadoff bunt single. If the O's can clinch the WC early I like their chances in the play-in game with him on the mound.
