A really great job.

But he also inherited a team that was within outs of the World Series already (and didn’t have Curt Schilling to boot).

So while I don’t want to take too much away from the guy and his 2 championships, I will be interested to see if he’s able to take a much lesser roster and get something out of it. He didn’t exactly tear it up in Philly.

All that said, I will root for him to be successful.

Any manager doesn’t make a tremendous difference when your roster stinks. +/-5 games maximum between the worse and ‘best’ manager. With that being said, you can’t fault the guy for taking 3+million over 500k.

He can hardly be making more than a few hundred grand a year with them. 500K max. As a manager, he’ll be commanding 4-5 million per year. Most guys would manage anywhere for that salary. Especially after getting wiped out in a recent divorce.
