The least you could do was TRY to beat the Yankees to:
1) begin to end the season on a slightly positive note
2) help the Orioles in getting the AL East and not letting your media-assigned rival get it

RS starting pitching has been horrid this year. Consider this fact: Not one of the regular starting pitchers had an ERA below the league average. What happened to the pitching staff? I think that Ben really needs to think about the job that V-Tek did as a game manager. Salty may hit 25 homers (with a .220 avg) but he is not the answer. They need a catcher who knows how to call a game. That is just one of the many areas that need improvement.

What was worst; the meltdown of ’11 or the no hope year of ’12? I’d have to say that ’11 was worse.

It seems much is being made about the fact that the Red Sox have played a lot of call ups, etc… Well who’s fault is that. They are the ones that either traded away players like Youkilis and Gonzalez and Scurato and several others. And as for them losing, the Yankees hit 4 HR’s in the 2nd inning ALL of them against their front line starter Clay Buchholz not one of the scrubs and against Aceves who just a couple of months ago was their closer. Those 2 regular pitchers allowed 9 of the 10 Yankees runs. So let’s put to rest talk about it was the no names and call ups in the Red Sox line up that didn’t show up for the game. When the regular pitchers give up 9 earned runs in 2 innings virtually all of them as a result of home runs most teams are going to lose that game regardless of who’s in the line up. That’s just the way it is.
