Having a .200 AVG will do that to a fella. He is has .129 ISOBP (OBP-AVG), which is awfully good. A few more singles mixed in there and his season would look pretty snappy.

Just playing devil’s advocate, but i think most years if he played closer to 162 games he’d manage to break 200 Ks.

You ARE aware he played one 162 game season and did not break 200Ks right?

Not disputing that, and heck, 199 vs. 200 hardly even matters other then appearances. I just mean that he would be at 195 with 6 games left, and it seemed a lock, ala 220 with 2 games to go. My point is that in a small sample size, you put the ball in play 4 times a game, and no K’s happen.

P.S. the 2nd of those two times, he did play 162 games

And just 4 RBI from 100/100/200 club (RBI/BB/K).

Because of the post on here about him and his OBP* I checked his K total. It was 213. I thought ’10 K’s in 5 games? He’ll fall just short.’ 3 games and 7 K’s later (at his rate of K/PA, higher than Mark Reynolds’ historical season) he can definitely tie it.

Unfortunately, Dunn will need a big finish to eclipse the Three True Outcomes mark of 58.2% set by Jack Cust in 2007, as he’s currently at 56.8%.

I was shocked to realize how god-awful Dunn was in the back half of the season. Through June 16th, he was boasting a .953 OPS. In his next 85 games? .188/.306/.399

Two years in a row, Ryan Howard was a “lock” to be the first Phillie to strikout 200 times, and both years the K’s fell off at the end, and he stopped at 199. Balls can suddenly start flaring into play, you never can say if a trend like strikeouts will continue or not

He will always be remembered for being elite at this particular discipline, may as well hold the record. Chicks love the strike out?
