Buck Showalter doesn’t need “very little room to talk” because he hasn’t. The article claims that Orioles “folks” (who, players? fans? executives?) aren’t happy about the Red Sox’s roster, and then goes on quote an unnamed National League scout and “another major league official,” neither of whom are apparently affiliated with the Orioles, since you would think the author would make that connection with his sources considering the subject of the story. No where in the “story” is anybody connected with the Orioles quoted as saying they aren’t thrilled or, as Craig translated it, “mad.”

It’s a trolling article, posted by Craig complete with snarky comment apparently to troll his own readership, which you fell for hook, line, and slider. Congratulations.

And after all of this, it’s the Orioles players who get all the blame and vial hatred spewed at them? Wasn’t it just yesterday that you said “In other news: if your team isn’t playing the O’s in a playoff series, how can you not root for them?” Oh how quick have times changed?

I find it hilarious that this is the exact sort of shoddy journalism that bloggers have been accused of and defending against for years, only this time it’s seeping out of print media, and given validity by the very blog that’s railed against this sort of claim. You should be ashamed to have any part in this pathetic; and obvious attempt at trolling Orioles fans.

Showalter removed almost all of his starters in the third inning against the Angels on Sunday. The Texas Rangers led 4-1 after three innings, but the Angels rallied for a 7-4 victory and earned home-field advantage for the first round against the Yankees with the victory.

His 3-4-5 guys (Young, Teixeira and Blalock) went a combined 4-for-5 on Sunday, but their replacements went 0-for-6 and left 9 RISP.

Buck HAS had this choice before and took the low road so he has very little room to talk.

I’m not denying that the Orioles didn’t benefit from that last series. Bobby’s been doing this for the past few weeks. It’s disrespectful to his own team, Red Sox fans everywhere, and the Yankees and the Orioles. He deserves to be fired.

I expect better reading comprehension skills from a fellow lawyer Craig.

Typical baseball writer garbage. Just make it up and quote an unnamed source. Nobody is going to call you out on it – because all the other writers are doing the same f-ing thing!

That being said as a lifelong sox fan – what lineup could go out there? Ciriaco, Ross and the kid who was the IL MVP Gomez (he’s a journeyman minor leaguer but he is playing his ass off to try to get invited to camp next year) are playing their balls off for that next contract and after that Lavarnway and Iglesias are only there to get a taste of MLB in preparation for next year. It’s an awful team right now – with the exception of the relief pitcher Junichi Tazawa who has been lights freaking out.

Of course this all comes with the caveat that if you believe another team not putting out even a remotely decent lineup (or pitching as the Yankees did last year) is wrong.

Oh but wait, apparently a National League scout = Baltimore now. I’d expect nothing less from Craig and the Boston Globe.

Are we supposed to be mad because Pittsburgh threw a rookie out there to start the game and didn’t even use their regular closer? No. Pittsburgh’s job is to take care of their team, test out their rookies for next year, and if they happen to beat Atlanta along the way, great, thanks.

Between injuries and house cleaning…I’m not sure what people expect from them right now. They’re a AAA team..with a LOT of payroll open for next year. They’re rebuilding…so you get “rebuilding” lineups.

The difference is: When the Rays trot out a competitive lineup, you’re looking at a near playoff caliber lineup, this year.

When the Sox trot out their version of a competitive lineup, all things considered, you’re looking at a .270 team (September).

Or is the story all saying the orioles complained behind closed doors and then some NL scouts made fun of the Sox line-up?
