Actually kind of glad the Dodgers didn’t make it…..would feel like rich guys buying whatever they wanted…..They will win their share going forward, and it will be interesting seeing how they manage all the big contracts….

Matthew, the IBB to Pagan was even worse than you indicate–you say it was to set up the DP, but it was with two out, not one (as you indicate when you say that they got out of it on a strikeout to Posey). Just an inexplicable decision.

I wouldn’t lump Giants fans into a group that cares more about the Dodgers losing than the Giants winning. Like in all rivalries, your team’s success is priority 1A, and your rival’s failure is priority 1B. That being said, Giants fans have had 10 days to celebrate winning the pennant. Last night and today is all about enjoying the Dodgers failures. But make no mistake about it, beginning tomorrow, the focus shifts back 100% to the Giants and the 2012 playoffs.
For Dodgers fans, I know it’s a tough pill to swallow, but that’s just the way it is.

Just wait til Chris Capuano, Aaron Harang and Chad Billingsley start pitching like… uh, Chris Capuano, Aaron Harang and Chad Billingsley. Yes, Adrian Gonazlez and Josh Beckett are upgrades, but the Dodgers completely overachieved this year (see Cruz and A.J. Ellis also) and managed to only win 85 games. The starting pitching is horrible outside of Kershaw and it’s only a matter of time before Zach Lee gets traded for some overpriced veteran. Agent Ned has no clue what value or importance is in regards to winning – And Mattingly just has no clue, period. Therefore, spend spend spend, it’s not gonna help when you spend on the wrong players.

Dodger Dogs and Vin Scully are great, I’ll grant you that.

In all fairness, I think the Dodger bats are in fine shape even if Crawford fails to come back strong. They need at least 3 more good SPs, and they gave up their best SP prospect in the trade. Kershaw cannot do it alone.

Their going to have to keep spending money on FAs since they don’t have much in the line of immediate SP help in the farm system. Better hope Greinke likes SoCal and the color blue instead of red.

The trade was only stupid if the team can’t afford to take the risk. But apparently, they can! I’ll wait to see what this crew does after going through spring training and a full summer together before making any judgments, thank you.

Not a bad finish for the Dodgers. They’ve finally been clicking in the past week even though it was too little, too late. Its been fun to get a brief taste of what that lineup is capable of. I’m definitely looking forward to their 2013. I guess us fans will have to get used to all the haters now with the whole ‘Yankees west’ thing. That said, the highlights of 2012 for me were AJ Ellis and Luis Cruz. What’s not to love about career minor leaguers coming out of nowhere and outperforming overpaid vets?

What is revisionist about what I posted?

As mentioned before, Giants fans are lame.

Probably because they need the Dodgers to lose in order to feel good about themselves.

And they can’t admit when they are wrong about stuff like the Gonzalez trade being strictly for the 2012 season. Even when it’s been proven that all players the Dodgers received for some minor leaguers and a .250 batting 1st basemen are signed through the years 2015-2017.

But don’t take that danggumbit crazy talk from me. After all, I’m a Dodgers fan. On a thread about the Dodgers losing last night. And that’s a far, far cry from the clairvoyant Giant fan who insists a reality that isn’t there in order to dance on a grave.

So, yeah, Blah-blah, you’re about as significant as this post makes you.

Mark Ellis lost that game for the Dodgers. He had no business trying to take 3rd on an easy double. The final score had much more to do with player execution than Mattingly’s choices. AJ Ellis’ inability to lay down a bunt was brutal.

But hey, if the Dodger fans want to revolt against their manager, I’m sure Bobby V will be available,.

I doubt Mattingly will “learn” anything. His decisions are typical throughout baseball….indeed, they are considered part of appropriate baseball strategy. TLR will go into the HOF, and he probably would have made the same decision in both of those cases.

I was listening to the SF broadcast on the radio and they were really baffled. They noted Scutaro was 2 for 19 off Wright, but he has been an RBI machine lately and Pagan… not so much. No hindsight on this one, this decision was 2nd guessed when it happened.
