Publicity #FAIL.

I'm happy for Adam Greenberg and certainly he attracted all sort of national media attention, but what does it really do for the Marlins brand? 90% of the people who heard about Greenberg in the past 48 hours will have forgotten who he is by Spring Training, and virtually none of those people (outside of SoFla) will have remembered that it was the Marlins who gave Greenberg his return At Bat.

The only way this would have worked was if they had signed him for the final week of the season and gave him a guaranteed Spring Training invite.

And guess what . . . if they had done that, they would have had NOTHING TO LOSE and everything to gain.

Because the way they did do it, left folks like me viewing Loria and his front office operation even more negatively then I had before.
