The Rangers got record attendance this year and decided to pay back it’s fans for their loyalty by shitting a brick and letting the A’s show them how to play Sept. and Oct. baseball. This bodes well for next year.

Well, I don’t know. I know this is about Baseball but Jerry Jones has the Death Star to pay for and his club is only the most valuable sports franchise out there so he’s struggling to find a way to make payroll and keep that vija board lit up. Thankfully his masterful job as a GM has paid handsomely with the years of deep playoff pushes the Cowboys have made since he shit canned Jimmy.

I always make sure to go to at least 1 game every year…including minor league ball. some of the best times of my life is going to the park with my daughter. I wont even get into why attending a baseball game with a kid is MUCH better than attending football games with a kid…(we all know why)

If every player took a 50% paycut you wouldn’t see a penny’s difference in ticket prices. Owners make money hand over fist regardless of payroll. This is typical in sports though… this idea that labor is overpaid and greedy, but the execs in suits are just trying to make a living.

To really get at the truth, we’ll need to do some crazy research to determine the percentage of the population who attended MLB games in Seattle, Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Anaheim, San Diego, Phoenix, Houston, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Baltimore, Atlanta, Miami, Tampa, and Toronto in 1952.

Why do media outlets do this every year? The 75 million means nothing without the point of reference of the current populations of these markets. I’m sure average MLB game attendance this year was higher than the figure for 1952. Should we conclude that baseball is more “popular” now than it was in 1952?

And you’ll not have to wait for UM-NEB on Oct 27th. You’ll have UW-Oregon, NEB-OSU, LSU-Florida, and UGA-SC this weekend !

The Nats were huge part of that and topped 30K for 79 dates (there ended up being two “true” doubleheaders). 37,000 showed up yesterday for a meaningless weekday day game.

It was sweet vindication for those of us who retorted to the silly “Washington won’t support a baseball team” crapola by saying: build a winner and they will come.
