First, I must commend you on a great moniker.

Now to disprove that moniker.

Since 2003:

BJ 803-816, .496
RS 908-712, .560

BJ's are potentially headed in the right direction, but its been a long time since they've had anything resembling a consistent pitching staff. Yes, the Red Sox staff has been abysmal for the past 13 months. But overall, they have a far better track record than that of the BJ's. And given that Lester and Buchholz are still young, Lackey will finally be healthy, depth with Morales & Doubrant, approaching prospects in Barnes, De la Rosa and Webster and the Red Sox mammoth payroll flexibility - well, you can choose Joey Bats all you want. But pitching wins titles and now even Romero is a big ol' question mark.

"... the Cubs wanted Theo more .."

Nuff said.

There isn't a snowflakes chance in hell that the RS are giving anything special up if the get Farrell. And, as was pointed out, if the rumors are true that Farrell's leadership qualities are lacking he's not the guy to be in charge of these jar heads in Boston anyway.

The RS need an established manager that can get these guys in the boat and rowing in the same direction. It should be easier next season because some of the higher profile mutineers have been jettisoned. If they go with a younger and or less experienced guy he better have a strong personality,

My fellow Beaver fans may disagree but Farrell lost me when he apparently didn't take the bull by the horns and get another player-leader in that clubhouse to step up. It was different culture there when Bautista was there. When he was away for surgery and recuperation, they just tanked and some stupid shit took place.

Also, this season had WAY more to do with injuries to just Buatista. The starting rotation was decimated. Only Romero and Alvarez threw the whole season. Tommy John Surgery claimed Hutchison & Drabek, an oblique took Morrow away for months, and the replacement number 5 guy was basically long relief from the BP (a BP which had its own injury issues: Perez TJS, Frazor's neck, and so on). On top of that, Lind's back, Cooper's back, Lawrie's oblique, Arencebia's broken hand, Rasmus's groin, Johnson's groin, AND Bautista's wrist. I'm not even mentioning Litsch & McGowan: they never made it put of ST. They were just doomed once that bill got paid.

Better chance of long term success? Based on what? That wonderful front office running things? Those players who don't give a crap, some of whom were finally offloaded too late, and for which the Red Sox are still on the hook for money wise for the next 3 years. Yeah. I'll take my chances with Joey Bats and the others in Toronto, thanks. And I'm not even a Jays fan.

Contrary to the media reports about BJ's discontent with Farrell, I'm not a fan of hiring him immediately just because he might be immediately available.

I'd like to see an interview process take place with a decent array of candidates. Also, I can't for the life of me understand why Arnie Beyeler hasn't been included in the list of prospective candidates. He DESERVES an interview.

It's not tampering when one organization asks another for permission to interview an employee and the parameters of potential compensation are set.

If Toronto was bold enough to ask for Buchholz or Pedroia, then the Red Sox would almost certainly end any possibility of hiring Farrell right there and then.

In other words, you are fantasizing.

Did anyone on Yawkey Way look at what transpired in Toronto? Farrell might be a great baseball mind but his leadership skills are subpar. How will he thrive in Boston if he can't lead? I hope the reports are false. These last 2 season were very difficult to endure for Red Sox Nation. Bringing in someone like Farrell is NOT THE ANSWER!!

Did anyone on Yawkey Way look at what transpired in Toronto? Farrell might be a great baseball mind but his leadership skills are subpar. How will he thrive in Boston if he can’t lead? I hope the reports are false. These last 2 season were very difficult to endure for Red Sox Nation. Bringing in someone like Farrell is NOT THE ANSWER!!

What other important things? The Jays underachieved badly--true, Bautista was hurt, but still. Some ugliness going on in beaverland. There are also some good candidates (and some not so good ones, cough, Valentine, cough) out there. If the Jays were inclined to get rid of Farrell, this seems like the best way to get something good out of a bad situation. Just cause the GM said Farrell will return doesn't mean he will. If the GM wants to make a deal with Boston, he's not exactly going to say, "Yeah, I'm firing his ass tomorrow."

No one has ever received a decent player/prospect in return for hiring away a manager (or FO person). They usually get a bench guy or a couple of low ceiling organizational players....that's about the best they could expect.

Pedroia or Buchholz would fill a hole in the roster. The Jays do not need another prospect. They have enough decent prospects in their farm system. It is Boston that is tampering in their lust for Farrell, and if they get Farrell, it will cost them.

All these reports are coming from Boston, not Toronto. In a TV interview AA has said that Farrell will return to manage the Jays next season. Take a look at a column by Shi Davidi on Rogers Sportsnet.com. Now if Boston offered Pedroia or Buchholz in return, then the answer may be yes. Toronto has more important things to do in the off season than conduct a manager search.

As a Red Sox fan, I'd much rather see some new blood at the head of the dugout. If the team is going to turn around and hire Farrell, who seems like Tito Light to me, then what was the point of firing Francona and suffering through a year of Bobby V. in the first place?
