Maybe he likes the city (obviously, lots of folks do). Maybe he likes being the biggest fish in the team’s pond. Maybe he thinks ownership has treated him well (?). Maybe he likes the idea of playing his career with one team (old-fashioned, perhaps, but admirable).

Whatever the reason, he seems to want to stay with the Mets. I find that admirable if perhaps misguided.
