ALDS Game 1 lineups: Yankees vs. Orioles — game starts at 8:40

Oct 7, 2012, 8:11 PM EDT

Derek Jeter

UPDATE: Tarp is coming off the field!  Game starts at 8:40

5:59 PM:  The tarp is on and the rain is falling down, so this one is delayed. It’s all good. More time for me to eat the wings and stuff I got.

5:03 PM: Here are the lineups for Game One of the Yankees-Orioles division series.  Of course, no matter who is playing in the game itself, batting first in this broadcast will likely be six dozen references to Jeffrey Maier. Which won’t get old at all.  Pair it up with some Monica Lewinsky jokes if you really want to be taken back.

The game starts at 6:07 PM and will be broadcast on TBS.  Be there or be square.

Derek Jeter SS
Ichiro Suzuki LF
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Nick Swisher RF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Curtis Granderson CF
Russell Martin C
Raul Ibanez DH

Starter: CC Sabathia

Nate McLouth LF
J.J. Hardy SS
Adam Jones CF
Matt Wieters C
Mark Reynolds 1B
Chris Davis DH
Lew Ford RF
Manny Machado 3B
Robert Andino 2B

Starter: Jason Hammel

All of you who thought that Nate McLouth would be leading off in a playoff series and Lew Ford would even be playing a whole major league season this year, please raise your hand.  You, there in the back with you hand raised: stop lying.

Why are they even playing this series, didn’t HBT pick the Yankees to sweep?! I don’t think so, #BUCKLEUP, GO ORIOLES!!!

  3. cur68 - Oct 7, 2012 at 6:23 PM

    Huh. Dang you Aquaman.

Anyhow, since we’re going to be sitting around I have a topic:

“Braves fans: Worse than Philly Phans? New worse fans in baseball?” Discuss….

I guess it depends on what you think is more lethal: Beer bottles or Batteries.

      • schmedley69 - Oct 7, 2012 at 9:42 PM

1 guy threw a battery 1 guy! Not 500 people. 1 stupid idiot.

      • Francisco (FC) - Oct 7, 2012 at 10:19 PM

Relax 69, I know that, I’m a Phillies fan and I like to mock the stereotypes. If you can’t laugh at yourself…

      • schmedley69 - Oct 7, 2012 at 10:40 PM

Sorry. Thought that you were one of the typical phillie-haters on here.

    • proudlycanadian - Oct 7, 2012 at 6:28 PM

I have never liked the Braves going back to Bobby Cox leaving the Jays to become the GM in Atlanta. He got his just reward in 1992. On the other hand, I do have fond memories of the Phillies.

      • nothanksimdriving123 - Oct 7, 2012 at 8:47 PM

The Canadian flag upside down, the chop, now a mid-inning on-field bottle and can recycling drive. Two decades of good reasons to hate the Braves forever.

Who wouldnt want to leave the jays? Thats equal to being sent to what is known as “baseball siberia”, its where careers go to die!

  4. proudlycanadian - Oct 7, 2012 at 6:23 PM

How about warming us up Craig with some Monica jokes. Did you hear the one about …?

    • proudlycanadian - Oct 7, 2012 at 6:29 PM

I know! Monica jokes are hard to swallow.

  5. joshftw - Oct 7, 2012 at 6:27 PM

The Orioles must be stopped! Nate McLouth getting a World Series ring would bring about the singularity that destroy’s the universe!

    • proudlycanadian - Oct 7, 2012 at 6:31 PM

In other words, you want “The Force” to be with “The Evil Empire”.

  6. wonkypenguin - Oct 7, 2012 at 7:06 PM

Any idea an estimated start time for this one?

  7. phillyphannn83 - Oct 7, 2012 at 7:20 PM

How bout the one where it took Craig 2 days to show his face around here again :)

    • cur68 - Oct 7, 2012 at 7:48 PM

Actually its early to see Craig. He does weekdays till 5:30ish and takes the weekends off. Funny to see his name next to a posting a Sunday.

  8. randygnyc - Oct 7, 2012 at 7:47 PM

Did the lead studio broadcaster on tbs just say during the rain delay that Derek Jeter’s post season stats are “retarded”? I think he did

    • ireportyoudecide - Oct 7, 2012 at 8:31 PM

      Derek Jeter career OPS .829
Derek Jeter career OPS in the playoffs .839

Yes, he’s like a totally different player.

In fact career ALCS OPS .756
      career Wolrd Series OPS .832

Jeter is a very good player, however he is the same player in the postseason as he is in the regular season.

After the suspended game nonsense last year, I really hope they’re 100% certain they’ll get the entire game in tonight before having the pitchers warm up and everything. I’d rather not see the Yankees and CC Sabathia go through that again. Here are the starting lineups…

Couldn’t have said it better myself

  10. randygnyc - Oct 7, 2012 at 8:51 PM

Ripken and smoltz are so biased against the Yankees that MLB should be embarrassed that they’re allowed to broadcast a nationally televised playoff game.

    • stlouis1baseball - Oct 7, 2012 at 9:19 PM

Newsflash Randy…EVERYONE is biased against the Yankess.

      • historiophiliac - Oct 7, 2012 at 9:26 PM

        Let’s hear it, Hater Nation!

  11. husky2score - Oct 7, 2012 at 9:26 PM

C.C Sabathia takes up 15% of the 40% of Americans who are obese.
